Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

The b block came with a vtec head...sohc though.
A head from that same engine type will work fine...you might need the ecu from the b head donor to operate the vtec though
don't forget the sticky's my friend.
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=44639 (f series engine list sticky)
now as to putting on a DOHC vtec...
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=88457
this thread goes into some details...read it cause I didn't, well I did...but just enough to know it'll answer that question.
I must ask what you plan on building this car for? Or did you just want vtec? If you just want vtec then go with the f22b vtec head. Otherwise...there will be more questions from meLast edited by bcjammerx; 11-16-2007, 09:51 PM.____

F22B1 (VTEC SOHC) SUCKS... Don't waste your time. Your current head is way better.
The F22B and F22A blocks are very similar... pretty much the same. Some modifications might have been in order (some changes with the mounts) so if your uncle didn't do it properly, you might have issues with axle breakage. I would check the thread made by Acclude01 on the F22B1 installation, as that block is the same as the F22B2 block.
The H22 head will go on the block, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll be left with lower compression, a lower rev limit (it CAN rev high enough, but I wouldn't trust it myself), and some modifications to the head and/or block to make it work. Such a "frankenstein" motor would be a potential reliability risk (for a first timer, it's almost certain). If you don't have the money to buy a full H22, you probably shouldn't take that risk with what is probably your only car. H/F hybrid motors should be left to project cars, at least until you REALLY know what you're doing.

I concur
Don't underestimate the poooower of the SOHC...side...do some reading up on the sohc...some pretty nice number coming from them.
If your going to turbo...the sohc is not going to kill your numbers, plenty of high power sohc build on the site. I'm in the process of looking them all up right now...look in naturally aspirated section...

this one is under way...wondering how it turns out.
His other build showed 157hp and 127torque...not what I was expecting but oh well...the current white honda has more done to it.____

ok deveergote is ssayin dont get it,...and someone else is sayin it makes good numbers.....(confused) but i intend the car to be a reliable car that will get e back and forth to work and to the store and wat not but at the same time i dont want to look stupid next to a hatchback dat has a couple of mods,...im not lookin for a full fledged race car just sumthin that will "hang" with cars that have much more work then my car. i also LOVE the sound of VTEC kicks

The F22B1 head has a watered-down version of VTEC. Because of the VTEC system, the ports are poorly designed, and it flows terribly compared to the F22A head.
The F22B1 also has 145hp, whereas the F22A6 has 140hp. You will NEVER notice that difference.
If that hybrid motor your uncle put together is reliable, then just do some bolt-on stuff. Intake, header, exhaust to start. Underdrive pulleys (I've had no problem with an underdrive crank pulley myself, though some say it's bad... get good brands, not ebay crap, and you should be alright). A camshaft regrind is about $120 from Delta.

Nothing significant... you can get underdrive pulleys for your accessories, and even a crank pulley (people say it can cause oil pump failure... I have had no trouble with mine, however). If you get pulleys, get brand names. AEM or Unorthodox Racing. Don't cheap out on pulleys, as improperly balanced junk can cause damage.
You can get a header, though there aren't that many great headers for the F22A. The soon-to-be-released Bisimoto header is going to be a masterpiece, but it'll cost about $600-$700. Dirt cheap for what it is (H and B series headers of similar quality will sell for over $1000), but still not a cheap mod. For a cheap header, get a Megan Racing piece. For the price, that's probably the best you're going to get without spending a lot of money.
You can get an H23 intake manifold. That's good for some gains. Add some Blacktrax plenum spacers and it'll be even better.
You can get a camshaft regrind from Delta for about $120.
Do all of that stuff, and it'd be wise to get a P06 (or similar tunable ECU) and have it tuned.
