ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Which struts??

So i just got some new springs, Sprint with about a 2.25" drop. I am going to need new struts now since they are such a big drop. what struts should i get? what makes a good combo with the Sprint springs? I want a nice firm sport like ride. but I dont want to spend more than $500 on the struts. I am looking at the Koni's right now and the Koni reds seem like a good price.

any input will help. post some good setups with Sprint springs.

    Thanks

Koni Yellow. I guess Red's aren't bad, just less adjustable and I once heard they aren't quite as stiff. Tokico's are other recommended struts.

KYB AGX is softer from what I read... and the NEW Skunk2's are apparently a bit softer as well.

KYB AGX were decent... but I wasn't a huge fan. The adjustable settings went from "not soft enough" to "not stiff enough". The warranty is also void after 1.5"

I have Koni Yellows now, and they're amazing. Mine are pretty beat up as well (weird, since they were never driven that hard, or that far... ) I've heard good things about Koni Reds. My friend used to autocross his cb7 with them, and he did quite well.

I've never liked Tokicos much... I think their advertising bothered me. They always came off as cheap. The Illuminas are their good adjustable ones, though.

My vote goes to the Konis. Yellows if you can afford them, Reds if not. Both are great quality.

They will. People who have been lucky like to use their luck as an excuse to tell others it will be safe.

Stock struts are old. The age alone will make them likely to fail when the car is lowered. They are not valved to be lowered like that. Drive very carefully, and they MIGHT last. Maybe as long as they would with the stock springs. Push your car, hut a pothole, or ride on some rough roads on a regular basis, and you might find yourself with one or more blown. I've had a blown strut. Just one. Going 75mph down the highway with even one blown is fairly frightening. Every little bump makes that wheel leave the ground.

I think you're right, Zach. The reds are adjustable, but they have to come off. The yellows are a simple knob twist... and the stiffness goes from butter smooth to go-kart.
