question about timing blet

i wouldn't do it yourself, if you're a newb into cars. It seems pretty easy but if you mess up the alignment of the marks or don't torque something down enough, you could have one BIG mess on your hands. Also, I had a mechanic friend do it for me, he needed a special $200 wrench just to do Honda timing belts. It looked like a 2-3 foot long extension with a bit at the end. So play it safe, and dont do it. I'm plenty sure there's someone on this forum that'll be more than willing.

I didnt need no 200 dollar wrench to do mine nor does it mention needing one in the haynes manual. It took me almost 4 hours to do mine and thats cause I double and triple check everthing. You might be referring to the tool to remove the crank pulley bolt which is no where near 200 and some places rent it so its essentially free. I say do it yourself have someone overlook what you do and check it when your done. The feeling of accomplishment is alot better than shelling out 600 bucks and when your done and realize how easy it was you will agree with the rest of us when we say you get ripped off when you pay someone else.

I just did mine two weeks ago and it was $350. I had to buy all my own parts though. Either way $200 is a damn good price

i wouldn't pay $100 labor to get it replaced. it's an easy job. do it yourself. even a moron could replace it with a little guidance and a day off.

if people keep paying this ripoff artists $600 to replace shit, they'll keep charging $600. shit is getting ridiculous. $150 alignments, $300 exhaust jobs, fuck.

buy a manual. it has step by step instructions and all the torque specs everything you need

If you dont know what you doing, then you better find someone that does. Its a tedious job and there is room for fuck up. Not a job for novices. I know you are probably still digesting the advice from the experts here, but when you are new to this, you take baby steps. $600 is actually about right. Most techs would agree. I'd like to know the website for the shop that charges $200 for a timing belt/job.
