ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

VTEC. VTECH makes phones and toys.

Do you understand the way VTEC works, and what it does? Moving the VTEC crossover to about 4800 can be useful, as Honda set it high so it will "kick in" as you say. If you set it lower, you probably won't feel it, though the performance may be better. VTEC is supposed to be a smooth transition. When you feel it, it means there's a jump in the torque curve. The low-RPM cam lobes have gone beyond their peak efficiency point and the higher-RPM lobes then kick in a good 200-400 RPM into their powerband.

haha oops sorry. my mom has a vtech phone. i understand the basics of it. if it is suppose to be smooth then how come i feel so much? or maybe i just think i feel it because i can HEAR it pretty well but anyways would there be any worries with moving the crossover? (besides gas milage?)

Lowering vtec doesnt provide gains...As mentioned factory points make you feel the kick since right before vtec engages the power drops. Lowering vtec doesnt do much either way. I used to have mine set at 4500 now its back to 5000.

Honda set it high so people would say "oooh, VTEC!!!" and buy the car. It's a gimmick.

Having the point set lower will keep the low-end lobes from going beyond their efficiency range. By about 4800, they're running out of breath. At that time, the VTEC lobe powerband begins (on a stock h22). So setting the crossover there will be smoother (sound and feel), but you'll actually be faster.

However, I LIKE the crossover And honestly, .005 off of my quarter mile time is worth sacrificing for a car that's fun to drive. When I upgrade my cams, I'm planning on getting some Crower stage 1.5 cams... Stock low RPM profile, Stage 2 VTEC profile. Now THAT will be a crossover that can be felt Won't be as fast as if I were using full Stage 2 cams, but it'll idle and drive like stock until I push it. I like that.
