ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Burning smell after wire tuck

I did a wire tuck a couple weeks ago only on the drivers side. I did the tuck the same was cpmike did it, which was cut a hole near the wiper motor through the inner fender, then run the harness through the hole and between the inner fender and liner. The last couple days I have been noticing a burning smell, kinda like burnt rubber coming from this side of the car. There is no smoke or anything, and I felt all the wires for heat but theres none. I cant find anywire that looks burnt, but the smell is strong. Could I have used the wrong gauge wire or something that could be causing this burning smell? Has anyone else had a problem like this?

    Thanks,
    Sal

I dont know what size it is, I got it from a friend who had a bunch of wire cause hes a ac/heating guy. Im thinking its the problem though, I had to cut and extend 3 wires. On the wire it says 18awg awm style 1015 or 1230 105 degrees c 600v vw1. I have noo idea what that means, Im gonna pick up some wire tommorrow in electronics class though, does anyone know what gauge or kind of wire is correct?

I can smell it from inside of the car only at certain times like when I stop at a redlight ill get a wiff of it. When I pop the hood it is more noticable, and when I smell where the fender liner meets the fender. Everything works great though

did you at least take the fender off and inspect it? did you put them in there bare or wrap them with electrical tape?

Yea I took off the fender just after I was done running the car everything looked fine and didnt feel hot, but the smell was still coming from that area. And haha of course I rewrapped the harness in electrical tape, there isnt one bare wire exposed.
