ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Ebay...why use it?

I see post after post after post...people asking...should I get this ebay part.

    And then HORDS of replies...
"that looks to be of questionable brand and quality"
"ebay is a risk not worth taking"
    "ebay parts or crap"
and so on and so on...

So why do so many people keep using ebay to buy parts for their cars? I mean if I were going to buy a lamp, or a tea cup set, or a book, or some porn...uh...yeah I'd use ebay...but for automotive performance parts?

And this isn't just an opinion...there are dozens of posts where folks have problems with their "performance" part they bought off ebay.

So...why the hell are you folks still wasting your money on it???

    I don't understand...anyone got ideas? Help me understand here...help me...help you...help me........help..you...

you have to know what to look for when buying something from ebay, do your research on the item, ask the seller questions about the item and take your time when using ebay. dont just buy something cuz it looks cool, make sure you know what it is.

ive been screwed over on ebay many time (item was not shipped or not as advertised) and now whenever i do buy something on ebay, i will do tons of research on it and ask the seller alot of questions.

believe me, there IS good stuff on ebay...you just have to do some research

yea dude there are brand new AEM, DC, HKS, Veilside, Mugen, etc parts boxed up. Unopened.

I think most of the people that post on here asking if the part is legit usually post the cheap knockoff shit, either because they dont know better yet, or because they wanna spend the least amount.

We have a lot of young tuners on here and a lot of people in school and those people are on a budget so you cant blame them for looking for cheaper alternatives.

I dont mind getting automotive parts on ebay that arent important like flex pipes and hoses etc but if it came to cams and rods....ummm no that would have to be either OEM or better.

                    HA HA HA HA...good question...but it's there

Here's how I see it...you are bidding...on a picture of something...you HOPE that's what it is and depending on the picture quality, it may be inaccurate.

To be honest I've gotten a Fender Squire (first electric guitar) from ebay...but my dad bought it not me...I honestly would have rathered he went to the local shop.
                    1. the neck has a crack in it, didn't find out until about 2 years ago. I've had it for like 10 years now...any way I don't play it that much...I could...but it's my first electric...now I have another one I play instead.
                    2. I'd like to have supported the local shop...and they would have given a better deal.

IMO it's not worth the risk...you could get those parts from a reputable dealer...and you might pay more...but if it's defective...you've got a warranty, a guarantee, and someones reputation on the line. I know for a fact ebay rep points are faked.

Last time I bought some stuff on there I got burned...luckily it was only $30 or so...the guy had like 2 bad reports...but he replied to them...I orded something from him...never got it...then he disappeared. Then someone with the same pictures of the products and descriptions appeared...brand new...but with a bunch of good grades or whatever it's called.

Either way...just me...it's not worth it.

                      another question...

Why does everybody refer to "ebay" as a brand? To make sure I looked around ebay (since I do not use it) and I didn't see any "ebay" brand parts...

Ebay is not a brand...it is a company that sells others products...

so you do not have "ebay exhaust, ebay intake...ebay this...ebay that..." you have parts you bought off ebay...

if you wanna name the brand great...but if you don't...just say...aftermarket exhaust or intake..etc...exclude "ebay" from that...cause...no one cares that you gamble or where you gamble...we only care about the parts you got on your sweet ride

When most people, or at least I, say "ebay x", we mean generic, no name, cheapy part. I'm insinuating that it's a piece and not of any real worth.

I find it interesting that people get so wound up and bent out of shape about that sort of thing. It's semantics, man. There are certainly more important things in your life than what somebody else calls their parts.

I have been buying from Ebay since NOV of 04 and have had no problems. like eveyone here said, do your research. I always look at the sellers feedback and ratings. if its a company that is selling and has to much feedback (over 2,000) to look at I look for 98.1% or higher ratings and look at the last 10 feedbacks left. for a regular user (like my self) I want to see 100% most of the time but if the user has over 100 (like me) and only one bad feedback then i can let it go. Pay pal is the best way to pay because the can hold the founds that was givin to him in a event you don't get your item.

Ebay also has tones of JDM parts.

There are plenty of quality parts on ebay. Some people (like me) use it to clean out their shops/garages.

Like it's been said, just take your time, check the person + item out, ask questions, etc before you buy.
