Hey guys, I recently moved to go to college, and got a 98 Accord V6 (very nice btw... although I still miss my CB7 a lot), and I know there are a lot of posts about this, but I want to know what your opinions are. With the car, I got a set of "Springtech" lowering springs. I searched them and it looks like one of those $30 set of lowering springs off of ebay. They were aparently on the car before, and it looked and rode good... or so they say. Anyway, do you guys think I should put them back on, or could they potentially f'ck up my car?

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

lowering springs are not tuned...they are not sport...they are looks only...not even show quality...they are crap. Usually they are shorter, or they are cut...either way they are crap...especially for $30. I wouldn't buy a set from my best friend if he only wanted $30...that's a red flag that it's a bad product.
you will stress your shocks as they are not designed to run compressed like that. You will ruin your tires as you are most likely not getting an alignment done and even if you did...the shocks won't stack up for long and the springs won't either so your alignment won't matter for very long.
$30 springs...come on...those are not quality parts, how much do you think pro racing equipment costs? Several thousand...so $30...uh uh...even if they are JUST springs...
Do quality work with quality parts or don't touch your car. This is like replacing your rotors but not your pads on your brakes...or like putting large diameter rotors on your car...but using stock little pads...but not even that...it's like buying some cheaply made large rotor that will crack on you on the first use...and then putting small pads on it.
People don't like being told this because they've done it themselves and like it...and "it's your car so you can do what you want"...but the truth is what you ask for...lowering springs are for ricer noobs who don't know jack squat about proper tuning...so do NOT do it.
Learn WHY you do mods BEFORE you buy parts...and if you spend less than 800 on ANY suspension components or less than 900 for a KIT...your buying cheap product that is useless and not even worth use as a paper weight.
If you want to lower your car...you need to first know why/what lowering does for performance/handling Then you need to learn how to tune that setup...and you need to get matching springs and shocks (called struts, shocks, dampener) usually the set comes as coil-overs...but make sure you get the shocks/dampeners that come with them. But before you can even do that...to actually get some benefit from these new suspension parts...you'll need to strengthen the chassis...otherwise the flex and give is going to HIGHLY reduce any gain you might have gotten...but not from $30 parts...no way.
Sure you can do it...but it isn't tuning...it isn't performance...it's ricer noob stuff (just like lights all over...and rims and exhaust with no power gains) Everyone does it...so be unique...DO ACTUAL MODS THAT CAUSE GAINS!! or be like the majority and rice it out...your choice...____

Lowering a car on cheap crap just so it sits lower makes as much sense as cutting or heating the stock springs. Lowering a car for improved handling makes much more sense... and you can't do that with cheapie crap.
The way I see it, your life depends on your suspension, brakes, and tires. Don't EVER cheap out on those things. Buy ugly ebay tail lights. Paint your car with a rattle can. Put stick-on chrome fender flares on your car... but don't mess with something that can kill you, those you're with, and those you run into when you lose control.
