ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

is it tapping or knocking cause there is a difference.

fixing the tapping could be as easy as a valve adjustment or could require new valve springs or could be due to lack of proper oil flow to the head.

fixing the knocking could be done by adjusting the timing belt, adj. the distributor, and making sure your fuel pressure is good up to the injectors and verifying that all 4 injectors are firing properly, and also making sure the O2 is not bad or damaged.

You could try using a new or at least not broken knock sensor. Also pull and CEL codes and see if you're getting anything other than the knock code.

Using the VAFC to get rid of the knock is not encouraged because you should have it running good in factory form before changing the a/f ratio with the AFC. Otherwise you're asking for some serious problems down the road. Spend another couple hundred getting it straight now or spend a grand+++ on a new motor in the near future.....the choice is yours.

If something is broken, and you have a problem that may be related... fix what is broken. If the knock sensor detects knock of any type (it'll pick up detonation and rod knock, I believe), the ECU will do everything it can to keep your motor from blowing up.

Does VTEC work? If not, you might be hearing some valvetrain noise simply because you're revving the non-VTEC cam lobes 1000rpm higher than they're supposed to go!

i would make sure the ecu is good. It might be messed up and running in safe mode.

could this be caused by the water pump being out??....that it put the hole system in limp mode??

no... if the water pump is out then it should run hot and from there on its a whole new ball game.
