ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f20a questions

i have picked up two cb7s one i am going to turbo with the f22 and one i am going to build a light weight n/a for the coming rally track season.

when i was looking through the list of f and h motors the two that stood out of course were the f20a with 200 hp with 11.0:1 and the h22 with 200 hp with 10.6:1.

now i would like to get the f20 as it seems to be of smaller displacement and i can really get into the high rpms that i love so much. I just am wondering if there is anyone else out there that really have broken into these motors.
what about amount of hp is the bottom end good for?
do companies make even higher compression pistons for this platform?
i know its an obd2 motor, so who exactly would that work into my odb1 car, would i have to rewire everything?
    what tranny would work, axles?

from some other sites they are saying that the f20a dohc is only a 9.5:1 and has 150hp, does anyone also know which one of these might be correct
other places are saying that the f20b is the better of the two

well i have figured out most of the questions so far myself
      just a few lingering.
will the motor mounts in the cb7 work for that motor?
axles, will the the ones for the cb7 work?

F20B is the 200hp one... the automatic versions are 180hp. They are more similar to the H22 than the F22.
F20A comes in SOHC and DOHC, with the best of them making 150hp. Not extremely popular motors, though some have them. I believe most F22 parts can be used with them (not 100% positive, however).

ALL F/H motors are pretty much interchangeable, mount wise. At most, one hole will need to be tapped in the transmission. Axles for all F/H motors are the Accord axles. F and H transmissions are also interchangeable, and will bolt on to any motor in those families (the S2000's F20C/F22C excluded... for obvious reasons!)

OBD1 to OBD2 is mainly using the OBD1 ECU and the proper OBD1 distributor and injectors. Everything else should work fine with those changes.

Some info on the F20B... It was developed by Honda to compete in a 2.0L racing class. The engine had to be a production engine, so that had to put it in something... they chose the Accord. People say "oh, it was designed for racing, it's better than the H22!" Wrong. Well, mostly wrong. It does have a higher redline, and still makes some nice power. However, the powerband is much narrower than the H22. If Honda could've used a 2.2L motor, they'd have used the H22. The F20B was made under the restrictions of the class. The H22 was made with no imposed limits.

thanks for all of that good info, but i can get my hands on and everything i need pretty cheap. and besides, i love high rpms. I have already worked on some different goodies to fab for it. Wiring is not my strong suit by any stretch of the word. I was reading in the obd2>obd1 that the walk through would not work with an 0bd2a>0bd1 because its 97+, and i was just wondering if there were only a few minor differences or if its going to be a whole different ordeal.

I think that might be for putting an OBD1 motor into an OBD2 car.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the only thing you need to worry about when converting an OBD2 motor to OBD1 is the distributor and the injectors. For an F20B, I think you could just use the OBD1 H22A distributor and injectors, and you'd be set.

almostJDM has an F20B. He could probably answer the question with more certainty!

Is there an OBD1 dizzy that would work with the F20B then?

                    Gah back at ya Deev

Ive read somewhere that the dizzies are the same

                    but...

                    and I say but

one of my buddys CF4 had a busted dizzy. so we took the easy way and tried to swap it out with an H22 dizzy i had in the boot (it was for another buddy tho)

and to our amusement, they dont match. especially the the extra socket.

You might want to check about that dizzy... it may not fit.

PM almostJDM. I'm quite sure he'd be able to help for sure, since he has one!

Also, I'm sending you a PM
