ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Another "S" Light Thread

I have searched through the similar threads and cannot solve my problem.

    91 EXR auto - S light flashing

Read codes - 9 flashes - faulty sensor in distributor

Checked sensor resistance and it was right at the upper limit (don't remember value right now, had shop manual at time).

Changed distributor, problem persists. Disconnected the battery for awhile to see if I had to clear the code. No change.

Here is the thing though - it is just an itermittent problem. If the light is flashing and I turn the car off and on again, the light usually stays off.

So, if it was a sensor or wiring issue wouldn't the light always be blinking?

I'm thinking it may be the TCM itself?

Oh, and the car itself drives fine, despite the light. Spedo works, shifts great etc etc.

    Thanks

Been reading old threads off and on at work almost all day. If it is the main relay would me engine light also be on? (it's not). And if it was the TCM does the s light stay solid, rather then flashing?

Sorry guys, I'm so wound up about this s light I forgot to introduce myself.

I have been lurking here for a while, reading and learing about cb7's definitely some well done clean cars in this club.

The 91 exr is my wifes car and I have a 5th gen prelude (bb6). No pics of the cb7 (its just stock with srv blades) but here is the 'lude (really dirty pic, lol)

Anyhow, I found a cheap tcm and im going to swap it out to see if it solves the problem.

Well I finally got around to changing the TCM. Problem persists, unchanged. Any thoughts?

the tcu has its own set of trouble codes seperate from the regular ECU. They are listed in the service manual

Are you sure it's the TCU? because

                  TCU code #9 is

9-Counter shaft or transmission speed pulse generator open or shorted.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the counter shaft speed sensor was code 15? and the crankshaft one (in the distributor) was 9? Maybe the counters shaft speed sensor can also trigger code 9.

I will try and find a cheap sensor and swap it out.

                    thanks
