ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

will my upper control arms get in the way when i lower my car?

the rear upper control arms look kinda close to the tire and im worried that if i lower my car, the control arm will start rubbing against the tire.
i heard that if i lower my car, the upper control arm will "move" and it won't be an issue, is this true?
will i need to make any modifications to the control arm?

it wont be any closer or further. the only problem that may concern you at this moment is if the control arm will hit the top of the wheel well.

I lowered my accord 3 inches. The rear upper control arms never hit. Its the front ones that will just beat the crap out of the car. Full metal on metal smacking, loud. I had to buy a camber kit. SPC is what I went with. Came with 2 new rear upper control arms. 2 adjustable front upper balljoints.
Then plan on getting an alignment.

I think there are bumpers you can get for the upper front arms. To reduce the metal on metal contact.

I hit front uppers with a 1.8" drop... It does it more when the camber is corrected. accordtunerx recommended that you leave 1 degree of negative camber to avoid that.

I smack my rear uppers all the time with my H&R Race springs. I have yet to invest in a rear camber kit, but I'm probably going to have to.

            oversized tyres?

bros, my car came with 16inchers that have tyres that are overspeced.

            It's basically 205/60 R16 now so my speedo's about 6% too slow.

Is it because of that that's why at the rear wheel well the tyres look like they're about to scrape the control arms?

Should I revert to the 'oem spec' 205/50 R16 (based on those tyre calculators) the next time I change my tyres? I don't mind the harsher ride because, I've never cornered so confidently before! HEHHEHHEH...

My previous rides were a Nissan Sentra on 14inchers and a Toyota Soluna (Tercel) on 13inchers (HAH)....

            Pls advise.

            Thanks!

            Btw: my ride's mileage

It's a non-VTEC F20A5 SOHC PGM-FI. max power 130PS@5500rpm. max torque 18.1kgm@4500rpm when it was new. Engine swaps are so no-no legal in Singapore

Having a taller tire profile could definitely increase the risk of rubbing. Still, it shouldn't... the arm moves with the assembly that holds the wheel, so when the wheel/tire moves up, the arm goes with it. If it's not touching all the time, it shouldn't ever touch any of the time unless you bend something!

Have a fat friend or two put their weight on your fender and see what happens. (seriously... fat friends are great tools to have! A fat guy was very useful in changing my suspension... sadly, that fat guy was me... )
