ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    ecu questions

hey so i have some questions for you guys. im starting to look into tuning and wondering whats the best way to go(standalone,ems,ext...)
im very noob to this end of things so i no nothing ahah.

First of all main question is what mods you have and how much money you have. IF you have basic bolt ons throwing on a stand alone would just be a waste of money.

Your best bet with the setup you have is to go with a chipped P06 or P28 and have it street tuned with Crome or somthing like it by someone who knows how. As mentionned a stand alone is a waste of money, unless you are planning some serious upgrades in the future.

thanks guys for the info. a couple more things. so no standalones. what about a p72 with say hondata s200 how does that sound. a guy in my class was telling me about the p72 and that it has sensors that the p28 doesnt such as knock and stuff like that. is that a better way to go?

Hondata is expensive, your best bet is to go with either a chipped P06 or P28 and have someone tune it

You first have to buy it, then you gota get it tuned by someone

IF your tuner/chipper knows anything, he'd save you some money and turn a p06 into w/e you need.

Honda knock sensors blow ass anyways. There's no need for them, especially if you're going to get it tuned.

Hondata is pretty much a standalone.

Greddy emanage blows, especially for NA honda's.

                Search Crome(not chrome).

Read the links in my sig about tuning/chipping.

nice write up man thanks the down side is i have a p13 so either way i need a new one. and hondata is a standalone? doesnt it have the afr, vtec controller 2 stage launch? rev limiter? just wonderin if i have things mixed up about what these are again sorry i am really new to this stuff.

and so is chipping an ecu the same as runnning a piggy back system just the piggy back makes it easier to work with for people like me?
thanks again for all the help!

You chip an ecu for Hondata, just add some extra components.

But all those features(rev limiter, vtec controller..etc.) are features you have to pay extra for. NOTHING is added to the ecu. It's a code you get from Hondata and you enter it under the settings in the Hondata program.

Chipping an ecu is NOTHING like a piggy back. It is very comparable to a standalone.

Pretty much, when you chip your Honda ecu and use a program(hondata, crome, uberdata, neptune, ectune) you are editing the code. Some of the higher end programs are more like standalones because they actually manage your engine, instead of just read what you edited.

so you think i would be better off to just chip the ecu and run a program on that and that would just adjust everything but with a piggy back i can manage everything a bit better?

what would be a better ecu to chip for my cb7 with h22a
                          p28 or p72?

Doesn't matter. The difference between those are the knock sensor and the IAB function(with the p72). The p28 has neither.

Like I said before tho, if youre tuner/chipper knows anything, he could add anything you wanted to any ecu.

Piggybacks don't manage anything. They add fuel, that's it really.
