ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

i think there is a online service manual on our site and it will pinpoint exactly that issue.

i got another tcu if u need it....
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

It is too late, I've said this. Thank you very much though.

Oh well if it comes out of the shop and still doesn't work I aint payin for it so. I told the guy I've heard it's my tcu I called him and said did you check the tcu and he said yes apparently he broke the transmission down on friday and pinpointed the problem, so IDK. how much for a new tcu or a burnt resistor or w.e

ask the mechanic to tell you what was the problem that he pinpointed out so you know and he can't say later on that it is something else and its gonna cost more or something down the line of that. ask questions.. its always good to know these things that way if it happens again you might be able to fix it yourself or help someone elso out in the future. good luck with the tranny.

Yea IDK. he opens his shop back up tommorrow. I fell asleep on friday.

Before he started the breakdown he had told me something about solenoids and the connection inside and that hes just replacing those, i always thought whole trannys are about 1 ,000. he said it's gonna cost 1,400. Why for parts that are just INSIDE the tranny?

anyways and when he told me that before breakdown, like he broke it down friday and when he called me before he closed he never mentioned anything else hes just like im gonna receive the parts monday blah blah blah so I guess that was the problem.

i bought my rebuilt tranny for 500 and got it installed for 300=800.

1500 is a total rebuilt where u can buy a already rebuilt one for 500.

i would of just cleaned out the silinoids first.

yeah i'm kinda feeling you on this one. I had to get my auto tranny rebuilt about 2 yrs ago, Completely rebuilt. At first he said it was gonna run me 895 for the rebuild and to put it all back together. But idk how bad shape it was in, when it went to the shop, the car was completely slipping in 1st gear (it would BARELY move), kinda like how a car slips when the clutch is completely fried. And yeah, so it had to get towed there. a week went by and he said he discovered that i would also need a torque converter and two shift solenoids. That bumped it up to 1750, grand total. So I probably got ripped off, i know i did, i just wish i knew of this site sooner. I could've done a 5 speed swap at a tunershop for 1500. All i'm saying is do all your research before you give it to the shop so they wont give you the run-around. But i was hardpressed for time and just started college, so i needed a car to get to and from with.
