ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Can't remove 2 screws from ...

    the intake manifold.
i removed everything else, but there are 2 screws [bottom and if u look at it from the front of the car, the bottom 2 from the left] that no matter what, i can not remove. I even applied WD-40 and still nothing.

    any suggestions?

note: the only thing that fits in that small opening is a wrench. a rachet is too big.

yea, but i tried that drill method and didnt really work, so then i knocked it down, i was about to drill a bigger hole, but then i thought... wait, what if a piece of that scrap metal somehow gets to the engine

so i'm removing the intake manifold.

new problem: i got the screws off, so i now have all 8 screws off + 2 from the bottom. When i try to pull the manifold off, the right side [opposite of battery] starts to come up, but the left side, is rock solid. I followed the Hanyes [not the best in terms of picture] and i removed everything they listed but the left side is stiff as crap.

anything i should remove to lift it out?

First time I did it, I missed a nut on that side, near the thermostat

Tap it with a rubber mallet, but don't force it

also, you'll have to pull it off that coolant tube

you have to be under the car to get to it, I remember the last 2 were like that, and they are the most hassle

I can say from seeing this angle there are 9 nuts

damnit, the bottom left is the one i think i didnt get.
and iremoved my EGR valve for nothing.

edit: wow, u took it off with the PGM-FI attached [penoleum i think is called]

i took mine off and put it to the side [since the throttle (acceleator) cable was still attached by that wheel thingy]

And that coolant tube is the metal tube under the intake manifold, it must attach to the thermostat, and if you don't get it quite right when you put it back on, it leaks. They recommend replacing the O-ring. I didn't, but I did have to take it off and put it back on twice to stop the leaking.

Actually, in this case, (for this picture) I was doing an A6 manifold swap, so I received it like this and cleaned the EGR ports before I took my A1 off and installed the A6.

And, yeah leave the EGR valve off for cleaning, you weren't wrong there

The upper part is called the plenum for future reference

ahh that tube, i did the rubber one. When i was under the car attempting to remove those 2 nuts, i kept hitting that metal tube. So i have to go under again to remove it ?

                        I'll check the PDF now.
                        Thank you sir

Ahhh PDF makes more sense than Haynes book.

What i removed was the Thermostat housing, not the actual thermostat... ok that b!tch will come out

You won't have to do anything to that tube, but when you pull the intake manifold off, if the thermostat is still attached, you will pull it towards the passenger side, off that tube, and of course the opposite to install.
