ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Okay heres what im getting off my buddys 90 talon tsi, the turbo with mani.
BOV, stock dsm injectors, side mount intercooler with piping and im pretty sure thats it, but the only thing is i need to do some type of tuning. i dont know if i can use an AFC for now untill i can get some dyno time and tune it. im going to be putting about 7-8 psi on all stock block 120,000 miles. im going to have to get a new wastegate, but if any one can help me out with what else i need to be safe, let me know thx

The search is your friend, but the one on here is a little buggy if you get to complex.

go to google and type what you want to look up, and follow that with site:www.cb7tuner.com, then you will search the site for that info.

    Hope this helps.

there is alot of info about dsm setups here, ya just gotta look.

check the motor to see if its healthy. make sure you did tune up and changed alot of gaskets and seals. make sure parts are in good condition and you car runs fine.

      then start on your project.

You'll need a chipped ECU to properly tune... an AFC usually won't be good enough.

Talk to d112crzy about getting a chipped P06. He can do the work and get you going with a basemap. Don't drive for long on the basemap, though! I've seen too many otherwise good motors blown because of people doing that! Save money for a dyno, or get together with someone that can do a decent street-tune.

Also, that side mount is just asking for trouble. Remember, you're boosting a Honda engine. It's old, and it wasn't made for turbo, so the components should be taken care of as best as possible. That means keeping the intake air as cool as possible! Heat kills engines!
Get yourself a decent front mount intercooler. Even if you get something used from a Starion, Fuso, or SRT-4... It's way better than that crappy side mount, tucked in your fenderwell... Keep in mind also that the fenderwell wasn't designed to provide any sort of airflow to an intercooler.

Finally, I assume you're using a 14b, if you're using the DSM parts... the 14b will get you by for a while, but it's still fairly small. Small turbos make heat. Be careful with it!

okay, yeah i knew the AFC wasnt a good idea, but ill talk to d112crzy and get something going, and i was planing on getting a front mount before i start the project but as for the looks of my engine its CLEAN no oil leaks just a little around the oil pan, and a power steering leak, and it pulls pretty good for stock with cold air, header, test pipe and exhaust no wierd noises its sound! thanks alot guys ill get some pics up soon!!

If the only leak is around the oil pan, you're in luck You'll fix that when you tap the pan for the oil lines to and from the turbo

I would also do a compression test to make sure all cylinders are healthy. I forget where they should be exactly, but they should all be about the same. The tool to do it is fairly cheap. You don't need a fancy one.

Just whatever you do, don't run on the basemap! It WILL run for a while, and it will feel like everything is good... but it's not good for the motor. More people make that mistake than anything else!

3 things that kill turbo projects:
            Small turbos
            Poor tuning
            Sickly engines

Also, be prepared to upgrade your clutch. I've always been told that the old stock clutch won't last very long with the increased torque!

Cool. I'll hold you to that!

The basemap will get you around for a little while... driving carefully. Your best bet is to get the car running on the basemap and drive to the dyno!

If it runs, it won't run well. You could do some major damage without a basemap at least. Think about it... you're upgrading to 450cc injectors... but the ECU is still thinking you're using stock size (I forget what they are at the moment... 270cc?) Underfueled means lean. Lean means boom.

If you plan on running an unmodified P06... yeah... no bueno. The P06 is a Civic ECU, made for a 1.5L engine. Yeah... that'll blow up a stock F22!
