ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Sleeves?

ok ive been reading up a lot, and i noticed that once people start making a lot of HP like 300hp and up, they say to resleeve your sleeves or get new sleeves. my question is what are sleeves? i asked one of my cousins that reads up and cars a lot, and he had no clue what i was talking about. I know its probably the dumbest question bc its probably obvious. but, no question is a dumb question, especially in the beginners forum

Re-sleeving for high horsepowered cb7's are more common among the people who have h22's. The reason being is that the h22 sleeves are made from FRM (fibre reinforced material) and are not compatible with forged pistons which are used to lower the compression with boosted setup's. But that does not mean you have to re-sleeve when boosting an h22, I havent, but I'm only running at 7lbs of boost. If I ever wanted to run more boost, I would either re-sleeve the block and add new rods, pistons and head studs, or there are the Mahle Gold's which apparently are some pistons that are compatible with the h22 FRM sleeves because they have some type of coating covering them which doesnt damage the stock sleeves

        You nailed it

Look into companies like Darton and Golden Eagle for sleeves. They're known to be some of the best. Benson also uses Darton sleeves made to their own specifications, I believe... Considered some of the best.
Resleeving a block usually costs about $1000 or so. That depends on what you have done, and who does it.
If you're going to go for a large overbore, resleeving is a good idea. Turbo? Resleeve it. Stock bore NA with an H22? Stock FRM sleeves are probably better (they've got good cooling properties, and are quite strong... people seem to be under the impression that they're weak)

Some people will suggest a "block guard" as a cheaper alternative to full sleeves. Those people don't know what they are talking about. The block guard will cause warpage in the cylinders.

Agreed the stock sleeves of an h22 are not weak, I believe the S2000 use the same material for their sleeves.
