check it out i have a 92 lx some of you already know this, anywho i posted a thread about CEL staying solid when pulling a code. the problem was when i turn the key the CEL will stay solid and d4 flashes this is when im trying to start the car not pull a code. when the d4 flashes its not in any order just a constant blink. but then i heard a click under the dash on the driver side when the CEL went off. the d4 would still be blinking and i could start the car but it would never shift out of 2nd gear, weird. then one day i got mad and decided to find out what the clicking was, so i put my hand on anyting that would have a switch or relay. and there was like five diff things that where clicking but i could only find one that i felt. it says cont AT cru on it, is that my main relay? and when it does what ive described above ill tap on it and then CEL will go off. anyone got a clue. i know theres a thread on here about the main relay but i dont know if what im talking about has anything to do with that. and some people have told me that a solid CEL means a bad ecu.

does it stay in second? does it shift from first to second then stop? if it stays in second then it is in limp mode. i dont think the main relay has anything to do with the auto tranny. but it may click as a limp mode effect shuting off neccessary systems or componets to prevent damage.word...

possibly but i know sometimes it wont down shift from 2nd if i stop. and if i try and get on it and make it down shift it just bogs down like taking off from 2nd.i know it used to go into limp mode sometimes when i was driving befor i lost 4th and reverse. but when i tap on that (which now i know what it is) cruise control box it starts up just fine the main relay is right behind it so it could be me moving it and jaring something or ????? anywho i have no idea like i said ill resolder the main relay on monday (tomorrow) and see if that fixes it if now ill get a used ecu and see if that helps. thanks for all the help guys, and thanks jtschupp but my main problem is the car not starting im not so worried about running in second as long as it runs the tranny is shot anyway and its only a matter of time befor i get a new one.Hey yo uhhhhhh fry man!!!!

ummm yeah it was the main relay. i took it out monday at work and it was fried smelled good tho. lol anywho got a brand new one for 47 bucks and my baby starts every time and actually runs a little better now. ill try and post some pics of the old one to let you guys see what it looked like cause when i first opened it it didnt look like anything was wrong then i sniffed it. anyway thanks everyone for all your help. especially you ralphie you were dead on man. well i guess ill see you guys soon, i love this website its my homepage. god i love my car. laterHey yo uhhhhhh fry man!!!!
