ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Bogging before 3k

I am still getting a slight bog between 2-3k. By bog I mean when I hit it, the car sounds pretty loud like its trying to go but feels like something is holding it back then, when I get passed 3k it starts to move off hard. As if whatever was holding it back decided to let go.

I decided to check my CAM timing and it looked perfect. Everything was lined up the way it should be, but one thing that I noticed was that the belt was loose between the two CAMS. I was able to move it up and down about a have an inch or so... Should this not be tight? Could this be the reason for my sluggishness/bogging before 4k?

Umm...on the slack note: check your tensioner and/or the tensioner spring...if you're not carefull...that will slide off..and POOF bent valves!...dont want that!

but the bogging...Hmm...check your vacuum lines...might have a leak somewhere..and check your intake manifold for cracks and leakage from the gasket.

double check your TPS sensor...check the voltage of it!

      AND..as stated...check that Dizzy.

NOTE: when was the last time you changed your T-belt????????

if you haven't within the last 85-90K ...CHANGE IT..and when you do...get a new tensioner and tensioner spring!

My H22 has the hydraulic Tensioner still. I was about to change the belt when I got the engine, but after taking the covers off, Everything looked so new. I decided not to change it. I did remove the tension adjuster bolt, but I guess after removing that bolt you need to do something to get it tight again? Does anyone have a link on DIY for the H22 timing belt, so I can see how to tighten this? I hope I don't have to take off the crank pulley to do this again. That Crank Pulley is no joke.

I have sprayed Carb cleaner everywhere looking for a vacuum leak but did not find anything. The car idle perfectly, But when the A/C is on the idle goes up and down. After blocking the EGR ports the car did have more power, but that lagging between 2-3k is still there. If the CAM timing is right could the balancer shaft be off by a tooth or so? NO CEL

i assume your using the correct ecu for the h22... with that said, there shouldent be any slack between gears in the timing belt, however i dont belive thats the problem either... check your oxygen senser (i know your going to get a hundred "check this outs") but whenever sombody bogs, its most likely in the family of: your running lean, or missfiring, and not all the time will you throw a code if your lean... and id hate for you to have you fry everything inside your motor just to find your lean... ill keep check back, just for shits and giggles, if you have access to a cyl compression tester, do a compression test as well, and lemme know what it says

I am using the P13. I replaced the O2 sensor and nothing. I ended up getting a new fuel filter and I think this fixed the problem. The car is much more torquier and faster. No bogging at all. Before I would feel the bogging while going up a slight hill now it's fine. I will keep you posted.

clean your EGR service ports. there's 14+ years of carbon build up in there. these ports open up at cruising RPM, which is 2-3K RPM
