ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Idle and Shaking Problem

My car is an auto. At this time I know my rear and front mount are basically gone which explains the shaking but for some odd reason when the shaking occurs the idle drops to 200-300rpm. When I start my car it idles fines. Then when I need to reverse out, car shakes and the idle drops to 200rpm. Pop the car back into D4 and then the car shakes and idle drops again. The exact moment I start accelerating the car stops shaking and drives fine. But it doesn't occur all the time. Most of the time popping it into reverse will drop the rpm and shake it. I've done some research and searching. I know that my spark plugs have oil on them, 2/4. And I heard that the oil on the spark plugs causes the misfire and drop in RPM. Would this be true?

I am currently buying the spark plug gasket set to see if this might be the problem. In the past I did notice it doing this but it has gotten worse.

btw, is anyone selling the set with the valve cover gasket.

Idle problems are usually caused by a dirty IACV or FITV or Throttle body. Most likely its the IACV. Take out the IACV and clean it with carb cleaner.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be doing that with my oil change, gasket replacement, and valve adjustment.

I have a very similar, actually the exact same problem right now. I am about to clean out and replace the o-ring on my IACV, which I think might be the problem. my front mount is torn, yet to find a replacement.

Next week I'll be cleaning and doing so much maintenance. Once I'm done it'll be like a new car.

Yup. I've noticed last time I've checked my spark plugs some had oil on them. I know my lower spark plug tube seals are dead.

yea I hate those. I used a crap brand for replacement and they leaked again after a month. just put a camshaft in so I replaced them again. no more oil.

crap brand? would that brand be felpro by any chance? I'll be likely ordering that set but looking around the site it seems ok.

Well I need to sleep now. If anyone wants to put in their two cents, that would be highly appreciated. Thanks for the advice everyone.
