ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Balance Shaft Belt question.

i replaced my timming belt yesterday and i know i didn't get the right position for the balance shafts when i put the belt back on so naturally it was vibrating a little more than nothing.
question is. has anyone run without a balance shaft belt. does it really make that big of a difference without the belt. can i run my car/ is it a good idea to run it without the balabce shaft belt.

Yes ofcourse its going to have some effect on how your car runs. I suggest you put the belt back on properly. It's actually easy to align the balance shaft belt. Do you need instructions on how to do this?

im pissed cause i followed the insturctions to put it back on. help would be nice. i don't know how soon im going to rip my car apart again.

but the shaft on the right that doesn't have any real legible marks on it they told me to take out the plug in the block and put a bolt in place of it and when it receeded into the hole that was the correct position. i used a screw driver because didn't have the specific bolt they were asking for and the screw driver droped in several different spots when i turned the shaft.

      instructions would be awesome.

Yes you're right about the unmarked gear for the balance shaft. It turns out when I did it, the screwdriver went in twice the same distance and locked the shaft. What you need to do is find out exactly how far the screwdriver is supposed to go in (via service manual) and mark that length on your screwdriver. Then when you put it in, you'll know for sure. The shaft should lock pretty good if you did it right. Also make sure you have the timing marks on right. Everything should be at TDC when you're putting on timing belt and balancer belt.

        ...adjust accordingly

okay thats what i thought. i made sure the cam and crank didn't turn at all. and it runs fine the engine is just a bit louder and vibrates abit more. i think the balance belt is two teeth off or something rediculous. i really didn't pay to much attention to it because i was getting tired.

the bolt/screw driver is supposed to sink 2.9 inches. i didn't pay attention to that at all either.

          thanks for the help

It is not necessary to run that balance belt. There will be a little more vibration, but it won't hurt anything mechanically.

The balance shafts on a Honda are simply for added smoothness, they don't serve any damping function.

thats what i was told by one of my friends. i guess it may help not to run it either, excess rotational wieght. a tid bit more of a load on the engine than necessary.

It isn't going to make much of a difference in that regard either.

H22's typically only gain about 3 HP way up top, where your engine can't even rev to.
