Problem: S-light stays solid once I turn the car on. When this happens, the car is stuck in 2nd Gear. Manually shifting to D1-4 will do nothing.
Occasionally, the S-light will blink (instead of being solid) once the car is turned on. When this happens, the car is stuck in 3rd Gear when in D4 and D3. However, manually shifting to D1 and D2 will put the car in 2nd Gear.
So when the light is blinking I have no trouble driving the car via manual shifting. However, when the light is solid, I can't take the car on the highway b/c its stuck in 2nd.
could someone explain the easiest way to get to my TCU? I want to get the model number because me thinks it needs replacing. I have a sports shifter button crap...so that should be fun, finding the correct TCU.
also, is there any value that can be had if I remove and clean the lock-up[#7] and shift[#5] solenoids
I had this problem before and cycled out the tranny fluid (via drain/fill/drain/fill/drain/fill/drain/fill) and replaced a whole bunch of other tune-up parts and the problem went away for at least 4 months. But now its back and pissing me off because I know I've got another 50k on this baby.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
