ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Valve cover bolt

So here goes... I was doing a valve adjustment and so I put the valve cover back one and went on to put those nuts back on... I was on the last nut and I overtorqued it and broke it off. Question is.... Do they sell those nut and bolt assemblies? I'm talking about the nut that holds the valve cover in place...

Get one from a Junkyard. It should be free why spend for a nut when you can get one off for free? LOL that can be taken the wrong way if your a pevert like me

Yeah, I know that nut is pretty easy to get. The part I am worried about is the big long bolt that goes from under the valve cover, though it and then the nut holds the valve cover in place.

The bolt will come out fairly easily, remove the valve cover, find the bolt you need and remove it. I believe its 10mm, either that or 12. Take the new acorn nut too.

Remember, those bolts only take about 7 ft-lbs. Barely any torque at all.

YES they do make them. You can get them from the Honda dealer. They are called Valve cover studs. Search that on the forums, and you find all the info you need. I just replaced the 2 rear ones on my car last week.

Yeah I put in a new valve cover gasket and it came with the rubber seals to go under the nuts. So I put those on and few weeks later it was looking like it was leaking so I thought that I didn't torque it enough so another two or so turns and *snap* and the nut and part of that bolt were laying in my hand.

just curious... do you have to remove the rocker-arm-assembly to remove the vc studs?
