ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

It's not completely pointless... but I wouldn't do it to a daily driver.
The H22 benefits from high compression. The F22A has considerably lower compression, so you will lose some power. The F22A bottom end CAN rev high enough to take advantage of the H22 head's flowing ability, but it would be a risk with a high mileage motor.
Also, the F22A head actually flows BETTER than the H22A head... even moreso with some work done to it. Buy a full H22, or put some money into the F22.

the last i read, the honda s2000 was the best flowing head from honda (and one of the best, if not THE best, flowing production head ever
the h22a type s was a close second (not as well known or easily found) and the standard h22a head was 3rd, still ahead of most japanese manufacturers
the f22a was not on the list, but the nsx (all generations) was, the s14 head, etc......
this is going by volumetric efficiency, not total volume per liter (like some head builders do).......it's like "hp per liter".....HP is HP, sure it's interesting when you can get 250hp from 1.8 liters, but that 500hp 5 liter is pretty impressive too
i saw a write up about it on a japanese site about 3 years ago....i'll try to find it
and if i remember, the f20c has around 112% VE at its peak, the h22a type s has around 108% and the regular h22a has around 102%....most of the b series engines don't make it to 100% stock, but a well groomed b18c can hit 120% VE without any magic.....
the f22a is around 93% i think......most of the well designed 4 cylinders are near the 95% VE mark today as well......Last edited by rickyduckworth; 07-05-2007, 09:39 PM.....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

The F22A head flows well in stock form, but responds to modification very well.
Hondafan81 is making 151whp with a stock bottom end, a mild P&P, a fairly mild cam, and a street tune... on a Mustang dyno. Considering a stock H22 makes about 165whp on a dynojet, that's not bad.
No, the F22 head isn't better in stock form than the H22 head, but it responds very well to P&P. Hell, Bisimoto is making 400 crank hp with his F22... there's a reason why he used that motor, and not an H22 or B18.
But yes, you are right. Stock for stock, the H22 outflows the F22.Members ride 15.927 @ 86.76 (f22a1)

Taking the original topic of this thread into consideration...
Use the money that could be spent on an H22 headswap to modify the F22A head. A stock F22A block with some headwork and a good cam will probably give more gains than an H22 head slapped on that stock block. If you're going to upgrade the internals of the block, it'd be cheaper to just buy a whole H22.
The H22/F22 hybrid is NOT like the LS/VTEC.
