ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cryo vs. forged

after looking at the high prices of forged components i was wondering if....

i was to get new pistons and rods and had them cryo treated would they be safe up to 15 psi? or does it just seem like a waste of money

this is for my f22a6/f22b1 project thanks

my boss says that cryo'ing the rods would make them too brittle. shot peening is another option, maybe even cheaper.

either way a good set of rods will be needed. forged pistons would be nice with a ceramic coating so you dont burn them up :o

              crank should be fine.

A magazine I just got a couple days ago had an article in it about this guy that owns a place that does cryo. He has a fully built S2000 that he uses to show off the cryo treatment, and he hasn't had any problems with things being too brittle or anything like that. The article didn't mention anything about cost or whether its stronger than forged stuff or not, though.

SportCompactCar, August 2007, pg. 72. 427 hp at an undisclosed psi.

Not that I'm supporting cryo over forged, just adding a little more info to the Sandman's post. I'd kinda like to try boosting my spare F @ around 8-10 psi with hp goals pretty much anywhere above 200 hp. 200+ hp might be a little more safe (but possibly more boring) goal to hit with cryo. But its up to you. Its just that forged components have such a good reputation that its kind of hard to go with anything else.

Thank you. I get four car magazines that just about come in the same day every month and sometimes I forget which mag had which article.
