So i changed my fuel filter today. I had my mechanic take care of it because it's so hard to get to. But anyhow, he took the old one out, and showed me it. He said it was in extreme need of replacing- black stuff was coming out of it when he took it out and blew into it to show me how bad off it was.
So im driving home today, and the car feels so much smoother.. Like, it's not like it ever ran rough to begin with, but it FEELS like the car is able to shift at much lower RPM's. For instance, often times from a stop and go, the car would shift out of 1st at 4,000 RPMs. But now it seems like with that same acceleration, it shifts at about 3,000RPM's... And no, its not like my driving habbits have changed, but it just seems like the car is now shifting thru the gears at much lower RPM's..
So my question is - Could an extremely bad fuel filter of caused the high shifting? and replacing the filter has made it return to normal?
is that possible as far as the fuel filter goes?
Sorry for the extended post.
Thanks
