ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

It could be numerous things. Well if it's your starter, you can always bring it in to a local Autozone part store to test your starter or alternator for free. Aight, laters.

As the weather gets hotter, main relays are going to start going. That often causes inconsistant starts in the beginning, and then just no start when it gets worse. They can be re-soldered, or just replaced. My car currently has 2 under the dash... one dangling on the harness, and one bolted in but not hooked up I think both are good

Another common no-start culprit is the distributor... mainly, the coil and/or igniter. I had issues last year, and after a bit of trial and error, learned it was the coil.

I now have a backup coil, igniter (on my coffee table at the moment), and main relay just in case!

Also, be sure your battery cables are clean, and your grounds are connected properly. Corrosion at any of the connection points (ground or terminal) will cause problems.

The starter probably isn't bad, since a bad starter usually doesn't work, or just whirs without catching anything. If it tries to start and it's not a weak sounding crank, then the battery is probably strong, meaning that both the battery and alternator are probably healthy.

        Do this, in order:

        Clean battery cables and terminals
        Check grounds, clean ground connections.
Replace the igniter (I used junkyard ones... it's not honorable, but they're very easy to pocket!)
        Replace the coil (same thing...)
Replace the main relay (again... easy to steal) To check to see if the main relay is working, have someone listen in the back for the fuel pump... if you can hear it prime when the key is turned to "on" then the relay should be fine.

try checking ur ignition coil with an ohmmeter the resistance has to be on a certain level for the coil to work. if u have an internal ignition coil then u'd have to open ur distributor cap to get to it unless u got the wiring diagram
