ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Knocking noise from my motor? Help please!!

ok today i was driving my cb7 each time i hit the gas i heard a little knock noise i was like what the hell but didnt really pay attention to it till i stop 300 yards of more driving at a stop light. as i give it gas it makes a knocking noise like metal on metal and my car is completely gutless you give it some gas it jus bogs like gets deep but not going anywhere. so i got home and put it in neutral and rev it to like 3000 few times to hear the noise and still sounds like metal on metal...Can anyone help me i've never had this problem with my car and im only 16 so some experienced people please help
    Thanks!

I had a Toyota Corolla that I accidentally set the timing too far advanced and when I rev it, it made a loud knock. Or maybe your valves are hitting your pistons? But I'm not that experienced.

Couple things could be it, Something probably came loose in the engine bay and just making noise.

Then there is a problem of rod knock. It could just be that you spun a bearing. Either you have no oil in there or your oil pump is on its way out. I say drain the oil and see if there are any metal particles in the oil, basically the oil will be shinny.

I suggest also that when you change the oil filter, cut it open and see if you have any metal deposits in the filter.

Did you mess with the engine as far as adjusting or doing anything?

Sounds like rod knock to me...check your oil, then check your bearings.

It means you should stop driving. from the sounds of it, your crank is probably screwed up. you will probably need a new one, unless your current one can be machined. then you need to buy new bearings and install/have them installed, and hope nothing else was ruined.

              tough break man...

Ohhh sorry to hear dude, The best option is engine swap. Or you could go in there and change the bearings but its a PAIN in the ass. How much metal are we talking about?

And what engine is this h22 or f22?

Its probably your rod bearings, but it could be your main bearings. The biggest thing is to inspect the crank, if its damaged, you need to pretty much pull the motor

Connecting rod bearings, You have to drop the oil pain to get to them. Then you have to check and see if the crank is messed up. Its best NOT to drive the car anywhere or even start it. The connecting rod beaings isnt that hard as changing the main bearings. You should be able to change the bearing in a day or so.
