ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

well if it looks rusty, the paint on it bubbly, feels oily, it would probably be best to say it's bad.

personally i wouldn't chance it with those salvage yard shocks/struts because you really don't know for sure unless the person who just owned that car, wrecked it right as he was pulling out of where it was just replaced at.

just take it easy till you have enough saved up. to pay for some of my parts, i've taken on errands for people, worked some over time, done some side jobs.

Yea make sure its not running any oil 100% cuz that means they're done. I got a decent pair of stock shock/springs for 60 each off of a 96 accord. So i would say thats the going rate. Don't pay more for them.

its not at all hard. just get a haynes manual. it should take you about an hour or so. its not about how hard it is. its just about getting it done right. making sure you put everything where it come from back in its place.

To the Thread poster:your stock struts will be ok. it all depends on how low the drop is. look at my car. my car is SLAMMED on ebay coilovers so i know how you feel. the ride is super bouncy. just be sure its not a huge drop. one of my struts is blown b/c of how low the car is. if you have the lowering springs put those on if the ride is too bouncy and/or your worried about blowing your struts. just as long as its not a huge drop.

I read somewhere that it should take 3 hours to replace w/ hand tools. So its really not too hard.

if your just taking the entire assembly and putting it in place of your other struts then it shouldnt take that long.

but if your taking the springs off too? then yeah. it may take that long. the thing that takes up the time is using the spring compressor if your using the one you have to crank by hand from auto zone.

stock shocks will last you if the drop is no lower than 2 inches anything lower than that they will blow since there not performance shocks

what he said. you can do a 1 3/4in drop on your car. even a 2in if you want. but if you go lower than a 2in drop, dont expect your struts to last very long.

if you insist on used struts, go to your local goodyear, firestone and befriend the service guys there. they will give you good take off parts. there is no core charge on shocks and struts from their suppliers, so all they do is throw them out.
