ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Another Oil Leak Thread

I recently found an oil leak underneath or somewhere near the distributor cap end. I noticed that the tranny side had black smudge on it and noticed that some are still wet. Located it to it's source... oil leaking from underneath the distributor cap. I'm about to take it to a mechanic... any heads up about what needs to be done? Possibly, replace distributor cap, gasket, what else? Maybe the reason for my auto tranny slipping/ grinding also? car has 177k miles. timing belt, etc needs to be done soon too so alot of maintenance up ahead. TIA!

distributor o-ring could be the culprit or the valve cover gasket on that section is shot. And that leak will not affect your A/T , since on A/T i suggest you change your A/T fluid and see how it goes... Keeping the fluids fresh is one of the keys to a healthy engine and it's components.

Yep , that's definitely it. The O-ring. Check your A/T fluid if it's still reddish colored. If it's like brownish or darker than red then you need to change the fluid.

            No prob bro.

It's right in front of the tranny itself, probably covered a lil by those radiator hoses. It's a yellow colored dipstick. You can fit in , I only use my fingers by the time I reach thru the dipstick. You can't miss it

my memory tells me that my dipstick is colored red??! anyway, i know what you're talking about. the stick itself is really short. so i don't know how i can reach it unless "I TRY". anyway, where can i go about finding how to refill the tranny fluid if i were to do it on my own?? can't exactly see it up front like how to refill motor oil.

there should be a drain bolt underneath the car, just drive it around a bit to warm up the oil so it flows easier when drained. to refill just get yourself a really long funnel and go to town on that dipstick hole.

don't forget to use Genuine Honda ATF. i know it's not cheap but that's what our auto tranny wants to drink.

the dizzy o-ring is pretty cheap from the dealer, just grab yourself a Haynes manual or i think someone even made a DIY guide on the site here on how to change one out.

thanks for the input!! i have the long funnel and extra botle of honda atf fluid. question though, will i be able to tell if there's enough fluid in the tranny like the gauge level of the motor oil's dipstick? i'm thinking of just putting the rest of the bottle in there... how many does it usually take to fill?

dizzy o-ring is what it's called? i'll check into that. thanks!!

So you only lack cherry juice. So your tranny problem is fixed. It mean you can go to the meet

                          Easy fix

A haynes manual will be a good source to follow.

yeah just call up a Honda dealer and ask for the "o ring" that goes behind the distributor.

                              just becareful when replacing that.
if i had the part number i'd give it to you but on all of the invoices from Honda, it just says o-ring so i don't know which part # it is to give you.

also call around to a a few Honda dealers near you because some of them like to charge extra on parts.
