ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    is it really worth it?

ok so ive been reading, and reading, and reading... really new at the whole engine h22 turbo blah blah. what ive read is that you dont want to run more than 5 to 7 psi of boost with stock internals on a h22.. is that right? k thats fine i can handle that... however is it worth it?

this is the turbo kit im looking at...
    http://www.vecco.com/honda_kits.htm
    stage one of course.
how much horsepower will it actually produce?
h22 is 200 right? i have the f22a6 now... NOT ENOUGH FOR ME! not to mention that its rings are shot.
just looking for a little help making a decision. input from knowledge or from experience would kick BUTT!
    thanks guys!

wow...h22 can only hold that much of psi? i thought it would be more like 7 or 8...geez haha that is weak...but i know it can def. kick ass...saw someone with h22 boost on youtube....who is that btw?

But why not turbo on your f22 instead? I heard it can def. hold more psi...like about 8-12..maybe more...but check out the h22 turbo on a cb7 on youtube like i mentioned...type in Cb7 turbo.

ok so lets see. f22 turbo or h22 stock hrmmm.
          f22 turbo 200+ hp
          h22 200 hp
          no boost = less problems
          boost = weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
theres no way i want to buy a h22 and build it to boost. too rich for my blood right now.
but damnit guys "i wanna go fast"
my car now with its motor on its last leg it seems. is pissing me off. hell i cant break the wheels loose anymore. and when i romp on it. im like spyhunter with smokescreen. its shot guys i need to make up my mind.

If Anything Is Worth Doing... Its Worth Doing Right.

            Take your own advice.

For the price of an h22, you can do a pretty sturdy build on the F22A6. The F22 head actually flows BETTER than the H22. Beef up that F22 bottom end with some forged internals, get a properly sized turbo, and you can boost 10-15psi reliably. Perhaps even on stock sleeves.

If you get an H22, you're boosting a high-compression USED motor. You CAN boost a stock H22, but the threshold for error is considerably less with that compression ratio. You then have to factor in the condition of the motor when you bought it, the potential damage done while you are tuning (it won't be perfect right off the bat) and the amount of time (read:$$$) it would take to carefully tune it so it won't blow (hopefully)

Do it to the F22 and you'll be much better off. The extra 60hp from the stock H22 isn't really all that important when boosting. A 300whp F22 is just as easy to do as a 300whp H22. The gap in potential is significantly less when turbo comes into play.

The H22 isn't as common as you think... here, it's old news... but outside of here, there are plenty of people that still think it's cool as hell

Plus, it's not about being unique anymore... it's about the best bang for your buck. The H22 is a GREAT choice if you want to stay near stock... 60-75 more hp for a STOCK motor is damn good. But the H22 hits it's ceiling quickly, and to get more than 200whp, you need to drop some cash.

i hear ya man. im really thinking about building an f22. i mean, my whole aim with my car was to be different, what with the 2 lips, never owned amber corners, blah blah. and id still like to think my car looks great. NOT TO SAY THAT CARS WITH H22S AND AMBER CORNERS ARENT COOL. caus they are. theres a reason lots of ppl have them. h22s are fast and amber corners look sick on cbs. end of story. different isnt bad either tho.

                          no problem.

Look around the site here and read up on what other people have done. Kamaccord and Accord_SiR have boosted H22s, both making considerable power (when both are complete, they will each be making over 600whp) MRX has a boosted F22 with a decent setup, and he was making some nice power on stock internals (he recently blew, but it lasted for quite some time... it's all in the tuning). Midnightrayne and oneoffaccord have boosted H23s (another thing to consider... F22B DOHC is similar)

The F22 build is the cheapest, since you already have the motor. Do it right, and you'll be happy with the results. Built and boosted F22 is MUCH better than a stock boosted H22.
