ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Whats the deal with Cams?

    Ok
So if stock cams are ment with fuel efficiency in mind, and aftermarkets have horse power in mind... what would an aftermarket do to fuel efficiency?

aftermarket cams get power by opening the valves farther and maybe a touch longer for more ventilation... right?
So if thats true, how would more air, etc hurt? Wouldnt it only help fuel efficiency?

not really because the more air there is detected, the ecu will dump more fuel to balance it out, i forget what it's called but it's basically the same idea as "Yin and Yang." all about the balance.

dang that sounds like some fortune cookie shit right there.

Strange, so it would bring in more air and because of that more fuel... more fuel = more hp... less gas milage...

So the valves being open more would bring in a tad more air, hrmmm

why cant more HP bring more fuel economy also :P

Horsepower and fuel economy can go together. As long as your motor is tuned to run lean, however, like stated above, the more air you pack in, the more fuel is also needed. There is a fine line between HP and fuel economy, but that's why Honda pays it's engineers big money to make 120bhp per liter and still get 35mpg. It's all about efficiency. Although we all know that no one is getting 35mpg if they're mashing the gas from stoplight to stoplight.

I don't know, I'm just in the game for the power, fuel economy will come with a good tune, but you'll never really get the best of both worlds unless you stick with OEM or very light well planned mods. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah but even with a high horsepower honda motor your still gonna get better gas mileage than most other cars on the road.

Tuning will net you better gains than running stock ECU with modifications. 14.7 is stoichiometric as people call it. That is the ideal AF for cruising and idlilng because it gets the best "burn" Some people can go leaner depending on setups which helps them out. As long as you dont stomp on the throttle everywhere gas mileage should be fine.
