ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

yes the header is very simple to remove. remove the heat shield, then wd40 the bolts holding the header to the motor, and remove them. dont worry if the bolt takes the stud out too. just make sure to put it back in correctly

Well then. Next question. What are the names of some good after market headers or prices and things?

Did you have any fitting issues with that header? And is OBX a trusted brand that won't crack after a year? Oh yeah and what does a ceramic coated one look like, any pics of the engine bay? We'd love to see that.

Megan Racing is probably the best inexpensive header on the market. They copy the DC Sports design, I believe. It won't make crazy power, but it'll make some.

However, unlike the others, I'd have to say that wrapping your stock header (F22A4, right? 90-91 EX-R?) wouldn't be totally bad. Containing the heat will help keep underhood temps down, which is good, since you have that short ram sucking air from the engine bay. Also, exhaust flows best when it's hottest, so preventing that heat from radiating out through the header will increase flow velocity, which can lead to improved scavenging effects... very good things.

Wrapping a decent aftermarket header would get you more power, but wrapping the stock header isn't a terrible idea... and you can still use your stock heat shield!

                      Yes it is the A4

Thats exactly what my plan was I figured that it would do something to keep under the under hood temps lower helping out my short ram and letting it get some more cooler air. I didnt actually know that exhaust flows better the hotter it is so thats new to me. My first thoughts were just about the cooler air thing for the intake. Thanks

Heat is engergy, energy is heat. Heat up some air and give it somewhere to go, and it'll do it fast!

An aftermarket header would be a good choice, and I would suggest that you wait on wrapping if you plan on getting one anytime soon... or you'd be wasting good money and effort on that wrap. Regardless, though... the A4 header isn't THAT much more restrictive than the aftermarket ones! The cheaper aftermarket ones, anyway...

Okay good to know. Ill probably hold off on it for a while and see how things go. When it comes down to it now I'd rather just wait and put the money towards a whole new header
