ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Tune up

So I bought a 1990 4 door auto EX, and for the most part I like the car. I had an Eagle Talon before it and it was the biggest pile of crap ever.

Anyway, this car gets terrible gas mileage. I'm averaging about 12 now. I've checked the air filter, it's brand new, and the fuel filter looked new also. I checked the pcv valve and it appeared ok. So I'm gonna do the ignition crap. My question is, what do I need to buy? I know plugs and wires, but what else? My talon just had a coil pack and that was it, so now I'm lost.

Oh, and if it matters, I put Lucas fuel system cleaner in it and got about 90 miles off a quarter of a tank, but then proceeded to get about 90 off the last of the gas, which was half a tank. I put more Lucas in this tank, and it did nothing.

I've only "gotten on it" once just to see if it missed in the higher rpm's, and it doesn't. The car runs amazing, and everytime I had bad plugs/wires, the car had a miss. Maybe it was just me...

So pretty much what do I need for an ignition tune up?

    Thanks alot,
    Corey

Additives really dont do crap. Some people feel the difference and stuff but I stay away from using any additives.

    Tune up parts:
    1. Spark plugs/wires
    2. Cap/Rotor
    3. Fuel Filter but thats new as you said
    4. Check belts for wear

Another thing are you throwing a CEL? Also might want to try cleaning out your EGR and the EGR ports. They get clogged with carbon over time and hinders gas mileage and performance.

Would the cap/rotor be the same thing or two different things? My serp. belt looks decent, so I didn't think much into it. And there are no CEL's.

Not sure about sensors. There is no cel and I made sure the light worked on it, lol. I was actually gonna pull my cat off but I forgot about since I had to work all weekend. I'll do that, too.
