    Anyone Towing a Jet/Ski

well...about to pick up a jetski *2004 Honda Aquatrax turbo* for the hell of it... but the only car i would use to tow is my 92 Accord Ex 5 speed. Anyone tried this before? I don't wanna look like an idiot and get dragged into the water. Car is lowered a tad on AGX's and neuspeed green springs... i was thinking of just setting the rears to the stiffest setting and drag the biatch up the ramp... Any comments or suggestions would be great!!!

whats the dry weight of the ski. I wont lie, ive seen people pull heavy shit with cars but its usualy on the highway and not going under any sudden load. but once that skis been in the water and you put it on the trailer.... and then try and pull it up a inclined ramp.... thats a HUGE strain on a 4 banger. There are weak points that are not going to enjoy that kind of load.

My guess is youll burn out the clutch... then blow a head gasket. But ive only seen it done, never done it myself. so your results could vary.

i use my moms volvo to pull my jetskis, its a 5 cyl turbo. it pulls 2 at a time just fine, but going into the water is where its sketchy. the back bumper has to be in the water for the seadoo's to float off the trailer. i cant imagine were the accord would have to be for the jet skis to float.

i bet that volvo has more than 127 HP stock.

did the accord have a option of a tow package... if not i wouldnt even try it. just rent a truck from U-Haul for 20$ when you want to go n play. 100$ over the summer is alot less than finding out your car cant take the load or how well it swims. =]

renting a truck every time i wanna go play isn't an option... summer is right around the corner and i'm in south florida... so... playing consist of almost every weekend...

i refuse to put a hitch on my TSX cause i'm not messing up my euro r kit

and my civic is completely out of the question...

so this is my last choice... anyone suggestions to do to the car to make it more tow worthy???

i rather not have to have a friends truck in front of the accord to tow me and the ski up the ramp... that would be a sight to see..

p.s.--> ordered my hitch... gonna test it out next week... if everything goes well i'll let everyone know... if not... i'll be the first to have underwater pictures of a CB7...

find the most flat ramp u can find. bring a brush with u and brush off the underwater algae so the car doesnt slip.

dry weight of the 2 seater is 746lbs... so i'm getting the 3 seater being about 20lbs heavier or so...

16.6 gal tank..... filled to the max (h2o is 8lbs per gallons so i'm guess gasoline is the same)... say 132.8lbs

                    766 plus 132.8

                    898.8lbs plus the trailer...

lets have some faith in our accords man!!!

140 FT LBS of torque should do it, just don't rev the crap out of it, and get ready to hit the brake. Be safe. :TU:

honestly, i wouldnt put 800lbs of anything in my car and try to drive up any kind of ramp. let alone around 900lbs of jet ski plus trailer, then dont forget to add the weight of the water... it isnt going to let go of the ski and trailer w/o a fight. Dont forget to add the 50 or so lbs of water that will be in the trunk once it gets in the drain holes.

Your car. If your buddys got a truck then... why not tow the trailer to the spot w/ your car and then have them back the trailer into and out of the water w/ the truck. Cuz thats where the biggest strain is going to be.

You shouldnt have a problem getting around w/ it on the back but as soon as you add in a inclinded ramp and the weight and resistance of the water it gets awhole lot heavier.

Just buy a used pickup with a tow hitch.

It will pull a single jetski just fine. your exhaust will be submerged when launching\removing which is fine. Depending on the grade of the ramp you may get water in the trunk. (I havent yet but I have seen it)

Maximum tongue weight is 100 pounds for your car which is enough.

I have cargo coils and bilsteins in the back.

If you have large hills around make sure u use engine braking because you will get brake fade quite quickly.
