ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    hard starts

I just bought this car last week. 90 accord H22 swap. Well it had a starting issue. very hard start, like on the start position for 5secs and do that for 3-4 times. At first I thought it was the main relay....well changed that and no luck, then I changed the fuel pump, It started right up. I thought all was good until after work today I tried and it was hard starting once again. It only does this when the motor is cold....never when I already have it going like a couple hours before.

Now it is cold here...-10 at best lately and it starts hard...I should say starts hard and then it may hiccup a couple times then attempt to idle then die out. When it does start it idles very rough for a bit then flattens out.

Anyway I have searched and read up on it but everyone always says main relay...well I tried 3 different main relays and it still does it. Somebody also said leaky injector or even head gasket but that was jujst replaced last september.

    Help?

I would say that this is normal for any car especially in subzero temps. I would try some HEET gas line antifreeze.

I also have the same issues bro, but I haven't figured it out, where did you get a main relay from? can it be found at autozone, pepe boys or something?

I'll swap it out to see, it can also be a temp sensor that's under the distributor, but I don't know what it looks like and where I can get it. (Dealer obviously, but they overprice it like crazy)

I had another main relay in my parts accord. But ya it is prob a dealer thing.

UPDATE: I check ecu codes and code 6 came up. Coolant temp sensor....but would that make it very hard to start? And that was just replaced by the previous owner.

Also I would like to add that This morning it started fine...it was only when I was leaving to go home from work 10 hours later that it was hard to start again.

this might sound dumb but check the sparkplugs. dumb stuff like this helps, also your battery could be freezing. idk just some ideas

HEET is "scientifically" proven not to work(i did a science experiment at school) use the stuff that BG makes, that stuff works.

ya check your cap, rotor, wires, plugs. and if that doesnt fix it then get your battery tested. I live in edmonton, canada. and it gets to minus 30 celcius here and i've never had a starting problem until this year. and it was my battery going. put a new one in and it was good as new again.

i agree, it sounds like ignition. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, dizzy and however unlikely, icm. might wanna check your ignition control module, but i doubt thats it.

i can kinda assure you its not the main relay. i usually only had problems with that when its hot. you can check by simply listening carefully and turning the key to on, but not start. you should hear the main relay kick/click.

as to where to get one, i know a lot of people hate it, but i bought mine, brand new on ebay. there's this one store called normreeves honda or something like that, and it is an actual dealership located in temecula, ca, where i used to live. my dad used to go there all the time looking for acura parts. usually not the cheapest option isn't a dealer and a junk part will suit you fine, but i wanted to make sure and actually, it only cost me 20 total with shipping. still, i could of went to a junk yard and just pocketed one...=(

I got the car started and took it to a service shop...they looked it over and said it has something to do with the coolant temp sensor, they installed a new one to try and see if that made a diff but nope.. They are now checking to see if there is a short in the wires and checking the ecu. They said that when the car is cold the temp sensor is telling the ecu the engine is warm and it is flooding the engine with gas....hence the gas coated spark plugs when I changed the wires and plugs. The mech said the car is starting fine for him right now but is still going to look it over.

So my hard starting is gone thanks to a mech that knew what to look for. The coolant temp sensor, and two fan relays were all plugged into the wrong spot, since they all share the same connectors someone mixed them up. They are all in the right spot now al the car starts with no probs at all and now my temp guage finally works again lol.

thanks for all your help on here.
