ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    f22 n/a performance questions (non noobish ;P)

was up guys. got a few questions id like to run past ya. future cb7 owner and would like to find out some info and what not before commit to finding/buying a cb7.

ive done a bit of searching on the site and other sites and see its best to stay with the sohc non vtec f22 as opposed to the single v f22 or a dohc f22 head. i see many people go h22 wich is not an option here for many reasons but most of all want something diffrent that being a sohc.

whats the average whp/wtq 1/4 time of your average semi (ill explain) built f22 in a coupe or 4door (generally way about the same depending on driver). i see not many people putting down over 140whp bolted on with a cam.

what would a f22 with some head work, milded for higher compression (assuming a mil and a big cam wont cause piston to valve issues) bisi springs and retainers, big cam along with the slew of bolt ons with a good header and 2.5 inch exhaust lay down ?

what would a f22 with some head work, bisi springs and retainers, big cam, 1mm over bore (cant bore more than 1mm on stock sleeve correct ?), 12..5.1 compression pistons and the rest of the bolt ons plus a bisi header that fits the cb7 with say 2.5 inch exhaust put down ?

just curious what kind of performance i could be looking at before i purchase a f22 and find out unless i go ALL OUT ALL MOTOR its gonna be a dog.

keep in mind i know what fast is i have very fast car, just looking for a nice reliable all motor daily to get from work and back.

    thanks for your time guys.

Honestly, if you've already got a fast car and are looking for something reliable you can have tons of fun in a F22 CB7. Honestly it all depends on how fast you want to spend. Explanation - you can put a LT1 V8 in your accord and be flying faster than any stock camaro or firebird, but it'll cost you some big bucks. using the F22 SOHC (F22a1) you could even turbo that engine on stock internals and have the motor be ok. That's not to say crank up the boost to 16 psi, but it is possible. With an all motor car you'd probably be looking at crank, rods, pistons, head work, cam, exhaust, intake, and a few other misc. items probably above 150hp or so. Please don't take my word for it, I'm just taking a swag(scientific wiled ass guess). Hopefully others who are more knowledgeable will be able to tell you a closer range. CB7s are never a bad way to go. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

You say you have done a bit of research well gotta do a lil more. Read up on Hondafan81 buildup. Hes prob the one with the most experience on an NA f22 and what it could do. He has a red and white project in the performance section both are NA. Should read up on those. I think his red car put out 156whp or maybe it was his white car I forgot.

good threads, really puts my thoughts in perspective.

i saw that before, red car lil head work, cam and bolt ons 152whp 127tq, so not to bad on a very low compression block (stock compression). considering its a sohc those are pretty healthy numbers. so a simple motor like that, higher compression, bigger cam better header 170ish whp or so.

read all 9 pages of his all out n/a f22 build up. very informative, but i dont see 240-260whp even in the realm of reality. no disrespect but to put things in perspective:

gsr true 1.8 fully built bottom 12:1 cr, stock head with massive skunk cams, springs and retainers, top of the line header, and a crazy tune puts down 215ish.

stock head and bottom fulyl bolted and cammed k20 tuned hits 230ish...

i could go on, i just dont see that motor cysco's f22 hitting those kind of numbers at a almost stock deplacement.

seems like a bigger stroke and bore would be a much easier way to get whp along with more tq.

does anyone other then f22 parts sell stroker kits ? i see bisi sells sleeves.

thanks for the info guys, gave/gives me alot to think about.

Bisi is making 400 crank hp with his F22, which is at least 300whp with considerable drivetrain losses (probably closer to 325-340whp). Granted, there is a LOT of work and engineering in that motor, but it's definitely possible. Cisco's white car isn't going to be stock. I believe 12:1 compression is the goal there.

With some internal modification, I would say 250whp isn't outrageous. Honestly, for the amount of work it'll take for 170, it won't cost that much more for 250. You're probably going to have to strengthen everything inside the motor to hit 170 anyway.

ur right once u got the motor open might as well go all out.

i really not in the mood to spend 5gs plus for 200+whp.

still looking for a 4door cb7 though motor will stay stock lol.

              thanks for the info ^.
