ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    F22B...F22B Vtec head?

    Backround:

I know the F22b's are made in a sohc vtec, and a dohc non vtec. I have a f22a1 motor and I have no money to do the h22 swap, so I decided to look into the F22b head swap.

    My questions:

Which swap would benefit me more? I heard it is a pain to wire the vtec into a non vtec car. But I want a dohc head.

    Please help!!

Go with the jdm f22b (dohc non vtec). It's a direct swap on the f22a blocks.

VTEC is easy to wire up its just the custom work you have to do to the b1 head that makes it not worth it. As mentioned your better off with a DOHC non vtec f22b if not h23 head.

They are basically the same if I recall. The main difference is the block. Ones a 2.2 and the otheres a 2.3 but heads should be the same.

            Alright thanks Nail,
But is there more parts out there for the f22b as opposed to the h23? or visa versa?

I also heard that there will be significant different in power, how much is usually gained?

Well f22b/h23 both share similarities and most of there parts are interchangeable. As for power gains its quite a bit if I remember. Im not sure the exact figures but prob around 130 whp if not more. But you can ask the other people doing the frank motor swap. I would recommend you get a chipped p06 alsos with this setup.

f22b dohc and h23 heads are the same. so if there are parts for the h23, they will fit the f22b dohc head.

yes, there is a significant amount of power increase, especially if going from the measly f22a1. even if you dont have the proper ecu, it will be good enough to beat a f22a6 with ease.

resurfacing the head then milling it some is a great idea. try to get the most out of it while the head is off. this way, it will be closely similar to the jdm f22b dohc engine.

if you dont do anything to the head, the combination wont be as good as an h23 or f22b dohc because of compression. the compression still stays the same(8.8).

there are numerous threads on this topic and a few DIY's on this headswap, search.

A p06 that is chipped lol. But its a 92-95 civic lx ecu that is chipped to run on your setup. It will help you out with tuning and get the max out of your car. Jose knows hes a tuner. but I think Wikked made like 133whp on his h23 head setup before he blew it I think could be wrong.

sounds good to me. Would I just buy a 92-95 civic lx ecu, and have someone "chip" it?

What is exactly done when it is "chipped"?

Would it be more beneficial if I were to chip it myself? It is a hell of a lot cheaper
