i'd sand all that rust off, then make a cardboard template in the shape of that reflector. then i'd trace the shape of the cardboard template onto a piece of aluminum sheet metal and cut it out and polish it. then jb weld it on. it you polish it smooth enough, it will look just like chrome. later.

Then again, if you were to use a thin piece of stainless you wouldn't have to worry about oxidation/corrosion being an issue.....and it looks more like chrome than aluminum when polished.

a buddy of mines has oem fogs also, he blacked them out and put stronger bulbs in it. when hes pulling up behind me, those fogs are bright as hell.

How the output on them? My whole front end is blacked out so it my look good.

also how do i go about "re-chromeing" them as you say.

light output was shity as it was before i blackhoused it.. re-chromeing, you'd have to go to a shop to have it done..

has anyone removed that square sheild? it looks like there could be far better light output without it. later.

i removed that squre shield when i balckhoused mine. but i placed it back as i believe that heat from the bulb is absorbed by that square shield and with out it, the lense would melt. considering that i use them fogs as DRLs.

If I were you, I'd sandblast them back down to bare metal and have them re-chromed. Painting them silver would be okay, but it'd have to be high temp and if it blistered, then you'd be doing it all over again Type G's idea sounds pretty good b/c the lenses really don't let you get a clear look inside the foglight itself. And I wouldn't cut off the metal shield, those are there to direct the light from side to side, w/o them there'd be too much scattered light. Good luck

I've done the same thing w/ my driver's fog light after I hit a dog recently and had to use 2 foglights to make 1 good one.

I've been welding/fabricating for quite some time, so don't attempt to preach to the choir again dude..... I made a stainless steel chainguard for my motorcycle that sees rain all the time, and it's not rusting.

I'd have to disagree. At least in the case of oem 92-93 foglights. They do work great. They are designed to have a short, wide pattern, that's all. With my oem light set up, there's a definate night/day difference when they are turned on.

If you do have a brighter headlight retrofit of some kind, then sure they won't be as visible, but the output for what they were designed to do doesn't blow.
