ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

The Energy suspension front torque insert fits the auto dogbone just fine.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend Lucas, but that is just me.

dont put lucas in your tranny just use straight honda atf fluid, also I raplced me front mount a couple of months ago and theres still a fairly large jerk when going from park, even when theres no pressure on the pin

I'm very surprised no one mentioned "Lubeguard" - which i know advance auto parts has cause i bought it there... seriously - you can just add it right to the tranny without draining (unless its close to being too full already) - it takes like one ounce per quart of tranny fluid - but i do recommend changing the fluid and adding it then... but honestly - its like amazing how different the car shifts IMMIDIATELY - its like the tranny upshifts and downshifts like new --- im tellin you i was skeptical because i always heard "Honda trannys just start to shift harsh when they age and theres nothing you can do about it" - but read about the stuff called "Lubeguard" on some other forum and thought i'd try it. It seriously worked wonders... walk into advance auto and buy a bottle!!! and let me know how much better your tranny shifts the very next time you pull out after adding it.... i sound like im giving a damn ad for the stuff - but it really worked and made me happy

I heard about lubegaurd last year and researched it and, aparently the honda atf already contains the same stuff so its not needed unless your running non honda fluid, I would try it but you can't buy it here

Cb7 Accord auto trannies always shift harshly with age.
These transmissions aren't as durable as other Honda automatic trans. can be.

bah. If it pisses you off that much, opt for a rebuild kit. Or manual swap.
Just be realistic, it's evident that we all agree, these auto trannys suck with age.

CB7 autotrans Dont suck, infact they are very well engineered. The first cb7 I had dropped pretty hard into gear, So i took it to the most reputable autotrans ONLY shop in town. They said this is absolutly normal. The honda auto trans works like a manual transmission. It literaly clutches and shifts gears for you. Even the owners manual coments on how the shift might feal heavy and there is a second "grab" the transmission does when it finaly locks into gear( lets the clutch out completely). I payed $46 to the shop for them to inspect and adjust the transmission and transmission cable. I now own 2 auto trans 1990 cb7. 167k miles on my new one and it shifts alittle harder than say a new car and the other with 194k miles dumps hard aswell. THIS IS NORMAL FOR A CAR THIS OLD.
I cant Slam further. The ground refuses to get any lower.

the transmission could be shifting hard because the motor mounts are old not because the transmission is old.

The sole purpose of those is to control engine movement, but they are fairly soft and whimpy for smoothness. They usually last 100K under most circumstances.

The easiest way to check this mount is to watch the engine when you shift. You will see it rock excessively when this mount is bad. You can also look at the mount.

It could also be the rear, although you would most likely notice a vibration at speed with this one being bad. The severity would depend on how bad it is.

You can check this one by putting your hand under the intake manifold and pulling up. If the engine rocks easily, like it isn't attached to anything, this mount is bad.

The other two can be inspected visually for cracks or breaks.

For the fluid, use only Genuine Honda ATF, as Dex II/III will make it shift more harshly than it normally would. Unfortunately, if you have been running dex for a long time, your shift quality may never come back.

Also, make sure you change the fluid no less than every 30K. If it is even a little bit brown, it needs changed.

This can have a substantial effect on shift quality.

Honestly, my tranny is occasionally harsh, but most of the time it is just fine.

Honda Autos are actually a lot stronger than people give them credit for IF (and that is a big IF) they are maintained correctly.
im having some problems too, ive used dextron II/ III in my accords and it states in the manual to use dextron grade . today i reflush , reflush now i notice the color of the oil is pink any idea what this is ???? its jerking like hell ''when in d4 and reverse i cant see the rear mount broken or any thing abnormal but i will try a new mount just to rule it out ....

'' we racing or you just blowing smoke ?''

my cb's trans has been acting up lately too. it always has shifted hard into drive and reverse, but now it gets stuck in gears and shifts wierd. the D4 light in the dash blinks on and off when the trans is acting up, and now it's been staying on when the car is in park or reverse also(the park light or the reverse light will be on with the d4 light on too.) what could the problem be? do i need a new trans, as well as new engine mounts?
