ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

how much hp from type s

i was wondering how much more hp & tq someone would get by putting type s pistons in a h22?

Prob not much. Boosts the compression. There are a lot more factors that give the type S that extra 20 hp at the crank. But you should see a subtle gain with some tuning if you have a chipped p28.

yeah its not worth it for the gain you will get. you'd be bashing on the pistions when they don't get you what you want. the whole head of the type s is redesigned to give it that 20-30 more horsepower to the crank. depends on which h22 version you have to compare the 20-30 to.

Putting in type-s pistons isn't going to give a regular H22 the same performance as a real type-s. There's still a few more things that seperate that particular engine from a regular base H22. The motor itself is not really worth the extra 2000-3000 markup engine sellers give it. If you really know where to look around, places sell regular H22 longblocks for 800ish or full engines for 1200-1800 tops. A 4500 H22 redtop really isn't worth it unless u want to say "oh i have a Euro-R or Type-S" and for whatever reason having a type-r like motor supposed to give u respect in the honda scene.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not bashing on the motor it is a REALLY good motor if u are going the N/A route... but if u want to build upon it like Turbo or something along those lines... it's not the best platform to go with because the higher than normal compression those start out with. I know a guy with a JDM type-S in his 97 prelude that he swapped in since his car was flood damaged. The redtop H22 feels SooOO much more responsive and better than the old engine he had in b4.

If you want Type-R/Type-S/Euro-R like power, another option would be to start out with a regular H22, port and polish the head and put a whole skunk2 valve train, high compression pistons etc. and come up with something similar and more powerful. If you know someone that can do the machine work for cheap and get a good deal on the parts, it might come out around the same price or just a little higher but it sure would outperform the oem race motor.
