ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Is this an alternator problem?

I drive a 93 accord EX. Sometimes at night when i have my lights on, and i go to adjust my air conditioning, or sometimes even the volume on my CD player, my lights will flicker very slightly.. they wont go all the way off, but they dim very quickly, and almost immediately are back to normal. The only thing i can think of is that maybe my alternator is going bad? I hope this isnt the case, as they aren't very cheap. If it is, how difficult is it to replace myself, should i buy the alternator? Is there a write-up somewhere of how to do it?

    Thanks a ton!

P.S. Possibly unrelated, but i thought i'd put it here as well. My ABS light on my dash is on once i get moving past about 20mph. I've checked the fuses, and none of them are blown, and my ABS is actually working (I've done a not-so-professional test on a backroad, slamming on breaks) so I don't think its the module... any ideas?

SOunds like your alternator and for the abs check to see if you have fluid in both reservoirs.

also, make sure your belts have proper tension on them and check the grounds for corrosion. it probably wouldn't hurt to have your battery tested sense it's free at every parts store. later.

dls0451, if your Batt light isn't lit and your car starts up each morning ... your alternator is likely doing its job. And FYI, alternators --- good used Honda ones --- don't have to be expensive. (eBay, etc. You don't need one from the auto parts store.) The flickering might be a crappy ground somewhere.

Thanks everyone for the help... So I'm assuming the only way to know for sure would be to remove the alternator and have it tested?

like deckeda said if you battery dosnt die overnight and you can start the car its probably doing its job .... but you can still take it out and get it tested a good autoparts store should do it for free and they'll tell you if its on its way out

            hope this helps
