ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

How does your IAB sound? (intake air butterfly...F22a6/f22b owners)

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out my Intake air butterflies (IAB).

The only thing i'm trying to figure out is if the JDM butterflies are different than the USDM ones.
I know jdm H22 butterflies are normally closed (via spring), whereas the F22a6 intake is normally open (via spring), but closes once the car is on.

My question is...what does your Dual runner sound like when it engages.

To me, i tried both open and closed...and one way has a very throaty loud sound whereas the other is more subdued.
I'm thinking the throaty is the short runner as it seems to hold high end power better, but i'm not to sure.

Any descriptions of the IAB sound would be great.

Otherwise, if you are 100% sure that the F22B DOHC intake IAB's are normally open, that would help to.

    I'm confused....

but to me the iab's engaging is kinda like mini-vtak

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Sorry...maybe i made things really confusing.

I can't see my intake butterflies, and it's a JDM motor, so i dont' know if they are open or closed.
I tested the sound of both open and closed.
Just wanted to know what you guys thought it sounded like when your intake runners switch to the short runners.

After listening to some GSR dyno's, which have the same IAB's, i'm beginnign to think, the shorts are in fact the really throaty growly sound compared to the long.

Any more comments would be great.

I just get a volunteer to watch the diaphragm lever while I rev, or vice versa.

If I revved with them open, then revved with them closed, I probably wouldn't be able to detect the difference in noise.

ya...you wouldn't be able to tell with just reving...you would be able to tell from 4500rpm where it's on lower runners and then 4700 when it's on high runners.

Otherwise you can force it to be always open by disconnecting the vacuum source to it....then drive around and listen.

sigh...i might just take the TB off and look inside and check.

I need to know cuz i'm wiring my ECU for IAB control and want to get the polarity correct (not +12 or grnd, but active or not active).
