ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    cooling fan doesnt turn on....

so my cooling fan lets my radiator fluid boil up in my overflow tank and you can hear it from the actual radiator... i've already changed a sensor and thermostat yet my radiator still boils. i only used 1 gallon of fluid so its Under but i dont think that is the problem. Could possibly be a relay? i saw the relay under the hood called "cooling fan relay" - could that be blown?

i dont know what to do now

when i shut it off, i can hear it boil and i have to restart my car and turn on A/C to turn on both fans.... it doesnt want to turn on by itself. could it be a relay? i've already changed sensor/thermostat... and should i just fill up my radiator tank to a normal level?

when it boils, feel the top rad hose and then feel the bottom, if the bottom is colder than the top significantly then its ur thermostat and ur fans wont come on cause there is no flow to them.

that happend to my z...yet if they are the same temp then its something else like a relay or something.

nah no leaks but i will try that hose thing if its boiling. lucky i didnt fill my overflow tank because if it was boiling it would've overflowed past the cap and sprinkled under my hood. im guessing its my relay although i have to run more tests! thanks guyz...

I had the opposite problem, the cooling fan would turn itself on all the time, would run until the battery died. I bought the car with this problem lol. It wasn't the relay, i forget what it was called....a little box the Honda dealer wanted $400 for. My mechanice got it for $40 from the junkyard .

It could also be a temperature switch... Most likely the relay though if it NEVER works.

There are two, one for each fan since they come on at different times. You sure you replaced the correct one? Or if the sensor is good how about the circuit it's on? A Chiltons or Haynes should have diagnostic steps so you aren't just replacing stuff left and right.

ok if theres no flow to them than what should i do? i made it boil today and i the top hose was hot and the other hose felt like there was nothing in it... does it mean i need a new rad?

thermostat is bad, not letting water circulate through the motor.

change that, since your at it and ur hoses arent the best change those too.

..if you think that its not the thermostat then do a search on thermostat and you will be able to see what others have gone through.

There are 2 temp switches on the car. The one at the front (on my car) is the emergency one. If it gets too hot, it will activate BOTH fans at the same time. The one in the back by the thermostat is the normal one that operates the fan at normal temps.

Sounds to me like a thermostat problem instead of a relay/fan problem though. Because a bad thermostat will also keep your fans from turning on... Good luck.

Which thermostat controls the temp needle inside the car, if one goes out does it start reading from another, or is it displaying both at the same time?

The gauge is controlled by the coolant temperature sensor, that sensor isn't on either water outlet, its actually located on the cylinder head, right under the dizzy.
