the knock sensor sense knock in the combustion chambers or block, if it senses it something it sends a signal to the ecu to retard the timing, if not working properly like mine did, you will lose some power because of the timing being retarted by the ecu

yah they got that right, it does sense the combustion of the cylinder, but specifically it senses for detonation, then retards the timing....usually if the nock is not working then u get cel!
