ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    geting your engine to TDC

to get your bottom end to TDC I take the plugs and turn the crack pulley. the cam is A little harder.NEVER TRY TO TURN THE CAM BU ITS BOLT OR YOU RISK TWISTING IT OFF!I DID IT ONCE SO TRUST ME! If you are having a really hard time turning the cam sometimes I just unbolt the cam cage and turn it to TDC then tighten it down to spec. Its probably not the 100% professional way to do it but it has allways worked for me.NORMALLY YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN THE CAM GEARS WITH YOUR HAND BUT ITS HARD.]

just be careful because if you mess up you could damage your engine's valves if you don't do it right. ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ARE WORKING WITH AN INTERFERENCE ENGINE.so I allways double check my work.

So, I'm just a little scared now...

Has anyone else had that same problem GaryL had with the PCi tensioner? I get a nice discount coupon on eBay auto parts this month and I found this kit.

Do I turn the cam shaft pulley nut left or right to loosen it?

        edit: The answer is left.

So I have a question. II had my friend replace the head gasket and did it fine But when I tried to test drive the car, it started running weird.

The engine is having a hard time accelerating during take off. But when it reaches around 20 mph, it runs alright.

          Scenario:
On a full stop, I put the pedal to the floor but it still runs slow., but when I reach 20 mph, it will accelerate fine.
I was told that I'm probably off a teeth or two.

Can anybody teach me how to properly set my teeth? Do I have to take out the whole timing belt? Anybody wanna teach me a step by step procedure?

Do i have to take out the whole timing belt or I can just take out the one on cam gear?

          Thanks cb7tuners.

A friend and I are replacing the timing + balance belts on his '93 SE and now that we're putting everything back together, the belts wont tension properly. I have the factory service manual and understand the balance belt isn't supposed to be quite as tight - we might be fine there - but the timing belt is definitely too loose. At first we left the tensioner bolt (the one that goes through the center of the two pulleys) tight but the belt was being a typical pain to get on, so we loosened that bolt. Following the procedure in the book, and now having searched the internet, I can't find anything useful.

What sucks is that I had everything off when I converted my H22 to a manual tensioner via that ImportReplacementParts kit with the H23 parts and it all went back together smoothly, even though I still had to fight to get the belt on.

We're stumped, and the car's been sitting for too long.

Either you're doing it wrong, or you have the wrong belt. What brand are you using?

The balance shaft is not lining up for me. The v notch doesn't line up with the timing mark when I have a screwdriver in the hole through the main there hole. Is it possible that the gear can spin out of place while on the shaft if, let's just say, the whole timing belt and balance pulley belt snapped?
