ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    After the surgery.

    OK, I need some opinions.

I'm the noob who effed up the seafoam treatment. I decided to have that piston rod replaced, since it was the cheapest route and I have a "good" engine.

Now that the car is back at the house (I just got it this morning), there's a sizeable pool of fresh(not black or anything) oil under the wagon. It's coming from the back corner, on the timing belt side. Did he not get my head or intake mani gasket bolted down right? I trust this mechanic; he's been working on hondas longer than I've been alive.

Is this reason to freak out? I just paid $800 total to get the wagon healthy again. It was running good, but now I'm scared because there's a puddle of oil under the car and the dipstick looks about a quart low.

    Thanks for your help guys!

I took a closer look, and it appears to be coming from under the head. It's coming out quick too. You can wipe it up and it oozes back out in a few seconds. This is his mistake and he should fix it, right?

This isn't your problem. Take it back and tell him to fix it. Don't let him charge you either.

if it's coming out that quick, shouldn't he have it towed back to the mechanic?

I put a quart in it and took it back today. On my way up there (it's less than 5 miles), the check engine light came on about halfway there. When I got it, the brake lamp light in the dash was on and my brakes felt really stiff. What do you guys think is going on? The closer I looked, the more I thought it looked like it was coming from under the hood.

This sucks. I start school Monday, and have a 30 mile commute.

Is this thing going to be as reliable after all this engine work? I'm skeptical, and wondering if I should start looking for something that's going to get me through the snow a 'lil better anyways. I like Subarus. I like my wagon more though. Did I mention this sucks?

I would've loved to swap, but just didn't have the $$$$. To get it done right, I would've had to put at least $2000 in it. I just didn't have that, b/c I have to pay for school soon.

How reliable can you expect a swapped motor to be? Can you really trust the mileage that they state? I would have trouble trusting an engine from the other side of the world. I've never seen any proof that the JDM H22's really only have less than 60k or so miles on them. Are the swapped H22's as reliable as the F22's that our cars came with?

It sounds like it might be better to just buy a Prelude with an H22 already in it if you wanted to go fast. That's just my opinion though.

EDIT: On the other hand, how much can I really trust my F22A6 that's been completely ripped apart? My guess on the oil leak is that my head needs to be resurfaced. Sure hope he can have it done in less than a week.

so you like subarus but you like your wagon more. Easy problem to fix. Get the swap. You figure if you look into getting a new car a subaru is going to be hard to find a decent one for less than 2K anyway. Why not just keep what you have and get the swap.

I kept what I have and fixed what's in it for a lot cheaper, and it seems to be doing good now. My mechanic just re-torqued the head, and it stopped the leak. I swear I can feel more HP w/ the new piston rings and gaskets. Good stuff. It felt so good to drive the wagon again today. It's such a nicer ride than my gf's '94 Protege. I don't want a race wagon. I'm stopping after I put a bypass valve on my intake, and a resonator on my exhaust.
