ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Delta /aftermarket cams

I have searched here and everywhere else on the internet trying to find a solide etimate for a horsepower gain for aftermarket cams weather it be a new one or a delta regrind. I am looking to do something mild to retain a wide power band with good daily driving and resonable vacuum and idle. People have suggested a delta .262, i don't know what the stock lift is, but this is said to work well with stock springs and retainers. I have the JDM f22a1 with the a4 or a6 headers ( don't kno which) short ram intake full 2.5 exhaust and i am gonna chip the ecu and tune for the extra 300 bucks. Just wondering what kind of gains over and above i/h/e the cams will give me. Any info is appreciated. thanks!

I'm interested also; my guess would be (considering your mods) around 5hp perhaps? This could be insanely off and I apologize for making a post without certainly knowing. But I wanted to atleast throw out a number. I think you could benefit from swapping an H23 intake manifold onto the engine also for better breathing.
You might consider a Megan Racing cam gear to help adjust the cam timing. Run a search for Anthony's "Project Red Accord" he is using a similar setup and I understand its supposed to be fast.

I think it would be at least 10 because its definitely going to benefit more with mods, and I'm pretty sure the gains alone would be more than i+h+e together.

I will have dyno tune/graph information by evening of Aug 19th and will post up my dyno graph on my red project thread link in my signature. I have an appointment for a dyno tuning session for my project red Accord which consists of:

        - short ram intake
        - bored 67-64mm throttle body
        - ported & portmatched H23 intake manifold
        - F22 port & polished head, 3-angle valve job, .010" resurface/mill
        - good condition stock valvetrain
        - Delta 272 camshaft regrind
        - kamikazee 4-1 header portmatched w/2.5" collector
        - 2.5" piping from header-to-catalytic converter-to-resonator
        - 2.25" piping from resonator-to-muffler
        - stock f22ax block
        - adjustable fuel psi regulator
        - adjustable cam gear
        - engine bay fuel gauge
        - chipped P06 ECU

the shop i was going to get the dyno tuning done by said that the tuning alone with i,h,e would be around 10 whp so i am feeling pretty optimistic about the gains. Does the h23 intake mani bolt up well or is some modification required. I was wondering aswell if the porting was worth it but i don´t really know how much it will cost. thanks for the quick replies, keep it all coming

From what I have heard Delta claims a 10-15% gain on the 262 and a 15-20% gain on the 272.

Depending on what you have done, that could be anywhere from 10-15HP on a stock F22, to 15-20HP on a stock F22.

Obviously, if you do things like open up the intake and exhaust tracks, and then tune it, you will have more to start with and will most likely see higher gains.

Still, you figure 10HP for $100 isn't bad at all.

^eh it costs way more than $100 for 10hp. To get the cam to work you need a chipped ECU, and tuning sessions on a dyno to get it dialed in.

I would like to see someone pair a regrind with high-compression pistions and see what happens.

Do I really need a chipped P06 with a wideband to tune my Delta Regrind?
I mean I know that is best for optimizing the performance, but how about just installing it, like a stock cam? What problems would this cause?

That's what I wanna know too. Cause I already have my 272.

Those claims were based on a STOCK F22. That implies no tuning. You WILL see a gain just based on the airflow increase, even if it isn't an optimal one.

The A6 cam is good for 6-7HP of the total difference of 10, so it isn't far fetched to say 10 for a 262 and 15 for a 272. 272 is getting pretty aggressive.

                          Delta's claims, not mine.
