Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Changing manual trans. fluid

    Where are the drain plug and filler located? Any special tricks I need to know? I searched the forum, but had no luck finding this stuff. Thanks in advance.

      I used an old beer bong for the refill, it is a pretty easy fluid to change though, loosen bottom plug, drain, close bottom plug, open top plug, fill let excess ( if any) leak out top hole, close top hole.

            I haven't been able to find much regarding a manual transmission fluid change either. Tried various words in the search function.. I get either nothing or 500 posts.. Hmmmm Grrrr...


            A DIY would be excellent if anybody is up for it???

                i cant believe u wrecked a good beer bong but ow well, remove the top one first and then the bottom so it drains faster and just to let u know, if its gear lube dont smell it cuz it smells really really bad

                  It is good to change the tranny fluid (what frquency ?) If I do it, will my tranny get better shift or it wont change anything !

                    Like they said...use some of that Honda MTF, I hear it is the best for the manual tranny. The Haynes says you can use engine oil, like 10w20 I can't remember exactly. I filled mine with engine oil and it shifted like butter.

                      i filled mine with 10w-30 motor oil. Shifts fine for me. But whatever you prefer

                        Just use regular engine oil, there's no need to buy expensive Honda MTF. 10w30 is the proper oil, IIRC.

                          It was the correct lubricant at the time the manual was printed.
                          Regular production motor oil has changed enough since 1992 to consider using what Honda currently recommends.

                            the drain plug is a bolt that a 3/8 rachet fits on (with no sized socket just the rachet itself), it looks like a bolt with a square. it has a crush washer, make sure you change it. the fill bolt is about 6-8 inches above the drain bolt, more closer to the top of the tranny. it is a 17mm, it too has a crush washer, it wouldn't hurt to replace that one too.

                            to change the fluid, undo the drain bolt and the filler bolt and let the fluid drain out. put the drain bolt back in. insert a funnel with a rubber hose on it into the hole and fill until fluid runs out of the fill hole (approx 2 quarts).

                            then install the the filler bolt. make sure you don't over tighen the bolts, remember the tranny case is aluminum and is softer then the steel bolt you are putting in. make it snug, start it up and check for leaks. later.
