ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Brake Pad Question

I recently had my car taken to a mechcanic. He had said that he replaced the brake pads. The first few days I had no problem till a EEEeeeEEEee~ noise was coming from them. When I hit 30-0mph brake zone, then it makes the sound. I have heard if new pads arent broken into correctly, then problems like this can arise and can lead to you needing new pads. I was wondering if I needed to get new pads or can I drop by the store and buy some miracle spray for this? Or can this be mechcanic error? (Doubt it.)

Some folks like to camphor the leading and trailing edges of the pads to help prevent squeeling. Some pads just like to squeel and nothing can be done of it. Accords aren't really known for lots of squeeling, so your case is a bit odd. There are shims that are supposed to be installed in the Accord caliper to prevent squeeling, perhaps your wrench didn't do this. At this point your best bet is to take it back and complain.

we just did my front brakes, theres NO noise what so ever... and we didnt even use the shims, we went to auto zone for the pads and disc... so im unsure of the brand. but we also used the silencer stuff on the back of the pads. so maybe he didnt do that... did you get your rotors replaced or turned?

        "used the silencer stuff"

I believe this would help you, too.

I only had the pads replaced. The rotors weren't touched. I'm guessing he might have used some cheap pads. But yeah I've heard about a spray on one DIY that can be used to get rid of the squeal.

he may also not have lubed the contact areas, they can also cause a squeel

what kind of brakes are you guys using? metalic or organic? because metalic brakes are always going to squeal like a pig.

It is likely metallic brakes since I assume they're cheaper. It was a $20 job. I was thinking of getting some of those new EBC Ultimax pads or maybe get some lube for the pads. As for the squeal it is getting worse and worse. It is getting very annoying now! Everyone in traffic looks at me whenever I brake.

Also I was talking with my brother and he suggested that it could be that the rotors are dirty. Would that be another possible reason?

Metallic Pads Tend To Squeal When Cold. But If Its Constant Could Be He Didnt Line Up The Shims Properly Or Its Just Not Sitting On The Pad Itself.

i'd rather spend a little more for the organics.

Use organic pads. I just replaced mine for $30 two year warranty. Bought them from napa.

Hm... the odd thing is that the pads squeal like crazy when warmed up. When I begin to drive all is fine with no squeal but as I drive about 5mins(assuming the pads are warmed up) then it starts squealing badly. I'm likely never going to get another $20 brake job or to the shop for brakes and I'm going to purchase some EBC pads and install em myself.

No, not the spray stuff. It's the stuff you brush on the back of the pad before it is put into the calipers.

AutoZone or some other auto parts store will have stuff for this that's a kind of jelly/goopy shit. Comes in tiny packets for a buck or two.

The goal is to minimize vibration and movement of the pads; that's the squeak. The shims help keep the pads in place so they can't move about and vibrate.

They have a spray paint, anti brake squeal. I used when I changed my rotors and pads last week. The spray is red. ITS NOT RED SPRAY PAINT.
