I'm currently using a H23 auto tcu to substitute between a F22 and H22, I like it's gearing more better because it's not as long as a F22 however not as short as H22 either and it's still fast. When I go racing I just swap it out for the Prelude TCU.
You shouldn't have any available or unused plugs on our JDM Ecu. Your car should have a seperate 2-tail&plug harness for the TCU alone.
If you don't plan on getting a expensive standalone ecu later, you could invest in a Apexi vafc controller which can help you stay in v-tec and also tune out the bugs in the rev range. This will increase your power very slightly but also make your acceleration a little more smoother. I have mine set so if I downshift to D3 or manually shift the auto, the RPMS won't drop under v-tec territory after each gear change.
